Reporter Li Jiping learned from the Shenyang Railway Bureau: On July 8, train C1703 departed from Changchun Station bound for Wulanhot Station. This marks the beginning of the trial operation phase for the Changbaicheng-Wulanhot (Changchun–Baicheng–Wulanhot) Railway, Inner Mongolia's first cross-regional EMU train line.
According to reports, construction of the Changbaicheng-Wulanhot Railway began in December 2014. With a designed speed of 160 km/h, the line passes through Nong'an County, Songyuan City, Da'an City, and Baicheng City, terminating in Wulanhot City, Inner Mongolia, with a total length of 412 kilometers. Due to factors such as remote location and underdeveloped transportation, the economies of Wulanhot and Baicheng are relatively backward. The railway connects these two less-developed areas with economically advanced areas such as Changchun, making it a "poverty alleviation line."
