　　9-kilometer railway bridge composed of 8 curved-chord truss girders
　　The Beijing-Zhangjiakou High-Speed Railway officially started construction in April 2016. According to the plan, it will be completed and opened to traffic by the end of 2019. According to the designed route, the high-speed railway will cross the Guanting Reservoir. About 70 meters west of the railway bridge is the existing Guanting Reservoir Grand Bridge on the Beijing-Tibet Expressway, and the railway bridge basically runs parallel to the expressway bridge.
　　The railway bridge is about 16.7 kilometers from the reservoir dam, with a total length of 9,077.89 meters. The Guanting Reservoir Grand Bridge is composed of eight beautifully shaped curved-chord truss girders. Once completed, it will span the wide and calm Guanting Reservoir like a long rainbow. It is expected that by November this year, the 8 steel girders will be pushed into place, completing the main structure. Currently, 3 girders have been pushed into place.
　　Tao Zhengguo, head of the engineering department of the first work area of the fifth bid section of the project, introduced that to protect the water resources of Guanting Reservoir, the main bridge construction adopts the incremental launching method to reduce water operations and effectively avoid pollution to the Guanting Reservoir area. The plan is to carry out the launching construction at an average speed of one girder per month.
　　"Guanting Reservoir is a water resource protection area and one of Beijing's important water sources. To reduce construction on the water surface, we assemble the steel girders onshore like building blocks and then pull them to the middle of the lake with ropes. This prevents construction items from falling into the lake and affecting the water quality of the reservoir," said Tao Zhengguo.
　　In Wanlong Ski Resort, the second phase will build 60 new ski runs, three high-speed cable cars, and related hotels and apartment facilities. The total investment of the project is 1 billion yuan. Construction started in August 2016, and by the end of 2016, an investment of 320 million yuan had been completed.
　　In addition, the New Snow Country Tourism Resort project, invested by Beijing enterprises with 10.9 billion yuan, will create an international four-season tourism destination integrating winter skiing, outdoor sports, outward bound training, and health vacation. At present, the project has completed part of an 800-meter drop ski run, a 1,000-meter primary ski run with an average slope of 12%, and a 5,000-meter intermediate ski run, as well as the museum site selection and site leveling, and aircraft procurement, with a cumulative investment of 900 million yuan.
　　At the beginning of this year, the New Snow Country Tourism Resort also signed a 900 million yuan procurement contract with the French company MND, including ski resort planning, ski resort management, snowmaking system, and cableway system procurement.
　　The Taiwu Four Seasons Cultural Tourism Resort project, invested and constructed by Beijing enterprises and located in Chongli District with a total area of 3,100 mu, is also progressing smoothly and is planned to be put into operation in August 2021. The project mainly builds 400 hectares of ski runs, with a total length of 138 kilometers. It also includes 6 international brand chain hotels and mountain ski apartments.

　　Zhangjiakou to build 55,000 mu of "water source forest" this year
　　Zhangjiakou is separated from Beijing by a mountain and connected by a river, and is the upwind and upstream area of Beijing. To strengthen ecological protection, the two places have determined cooperation in building the Beijing-Hebei ecological water source protection forest since 2000. From 2009 to 2011, within the first ridge on both sides of the main channels and major tributaries of the Baihe and Yongding rivers, Zhangjiakou concentrated on creating 100,000 mu of ecological water source protection forest.
　　According to the relevant person in charge of Zhangjiakou City, the water source forest project is completed in two phases. The 100,000 mu from 2009 to 2011 is the first phase. The second phase is to build 50,000 mu each year from 2012 to 2016. By the end of last year, the five counties of Chicheng, Huailai, Zhuolu, Chongli, and Guyuan had completed a total of 350,000 mu, built 116.3 kilometers of engineering roads that also serve as firebreaks, constructed 51.8 kilometers of fencing, and arranged 163 forest rangers.
　　This year, Zhangjiakou City will build another 55,000 mu of water source forest, including 15,000 mu in Chicheng County, 10,000 mu each in Huailai and Zhuolu counties, 16,000 mu in Chongli, and 4,000 mu in Guyuan. Currently, all counties are organizing construction.

By the end of 2016, the forest land area in the project area had increased by 350,000 mu, and the forest coverage rate had increased by 1.5 percentage points.
