Bauer double-wheel trench cutters are typically used for the construction of retaining structures for underground buildings, and can also be used for foundation design. They are suitable for various geological conditions. As a "killer" for hard rock geological construction, their application will significantly improve construction efficiency and quality, greatly accelerate the progress of diaphragm wall construction, reduce the impact on the urban environment, enhance comprehensive social benefits, and to some extent create conditions for promoting the pace of subway construction. Now, Shanghai's largest Bauer trench cutter MC128 has been put into use.

This equipment is equipped with a Bauer MC128 main unit, which is currently the largest trench cutter main unit in the Chinese market. It is equipped with a 709KW Caterpillar C27 engine and can serve as the chassis for foundation construction equipment such as double-wheel trench cutters, vibratory pile drivers, hydraulic grabs, and heavy-duty oscillator pipe machines.
At the same time, the Bauer trench cutter is equipped with a BC40 trench cutter frame, with a height of 12.6 meters. Depending on the different frame thicknesses, the total weight ranges from 32.5 tons to 50 tons. Equipped with different cutter wheels, it can be suitable for diaphragm wall construction in various strata, including hard rock. The cutter wheels include flat teeth, conical teeth, and spherical teeth.

Diaphragm walls are mostly used as temporary or permanent retaining walls in foundation engineering projects, and sometimes also as load-bearing building structures. The emergence of double-wheel trench cutters has simplified and improved the efficiency of diaphragm wall production. At the same time, as the most efficient trenching equipment, it can be used in conjunction with other equipment such as rotary drilling rigs and hydraulic grabs. The trench cutter can be applied to various geological conditions, from soft soil layers to gravel and hard rock, for cutting, crushing, extracting, and screening. After excavating a 2-3 meter long (maximum depth can reach over a hundred meters) underground trench hole according to engineering requirements, a crane is used to lower the reinforcement cage and then pour concrete to form it. The above process is continuously repeated to make the hidden underground wall continuously connected, providing foundation conditions for subsequent building construction.

At the same time, during the trench cutting process, in order to ensure the equipment's intact rate and the continuity of project construction, attention should be paid to the following points during operation:
1. Manage items such as steel bars neatly at the construction site to prevent steel bars from falling into the trench and causing blockage of the mud pipe;
2. Recheck the guide wall excavation line before trenching to avoid cutting steel bars in the second-phase trench;
3. Reasonably arrange the construction process and distribution, and make good work arrangements for trenching and cutting;
4. Carry out equipment maintenance in a timely manner according to the specified time.
