Yesterday, a reporter learned from Jiangning District that starting in July, construction will begin successively on the underground pedestrian passage at Baijiahu Station on Metro Line 1, the underground pedestrian passage at Tianyuan West Road Station on Metro Line 3, and the underground pedestrian passage at the Shuanglong Avenue–Tianyuan Road intersection. It is understood that once the pedestrian passage at Baijiahu Metro Station on Line 1 and the underground pedestrian passage at the Shuanglong Avenue–Tianyuan Road intersection are connected with the underground spaces of the large complexes Golden Eagle and Jingfeng, the Baijiahu Commercial District will basically achieve integrated underground space. After the pedestrian passage at Baijiahu Metro Station and the passage at Tianyuan West Road Station on Line 3 are completed, they will be managed uniformly in accordance with Nanjing Metro operating hours.
The reporter learned that the pedestrian passage at Baijiahu Metro Station on Line 1 will be the first to start construction. The passage plan consists of two parallel pedestrian passages arranged in a straight line; on the west side they will connect respectively to Exits 1 and 2 of the existing Baijiahu Metro Station, and after passing under Shuanglong Avenue they will reach the planned plot on the east side of Shuanglong Avenue. According to the project plan, construction of the passage requires relocating the sewage pipeline under Shuanglong Avenue using a pipe-jacking method. To minimize the impact of construction on traffic on Shuanglong Avenue, the construction unit will first relocate the pipeline, starting with the eastern half of Shuanglong Avenue using a half-width construction method; at that time, the half of Shuanglong Avenue under construction will be reduced from the current four lanes to three lanes. During construction of the pedestrian passage, the western half of Shuanglong Avenue will be reduced from four lanes to three lanes, while traffic on the eastern half will not be affected.
Affected by the underground passage construction, starting in July, roads such as Shuanglong Avenue and Tianyuan Road will face greater traffic pressure. Drivers should prepare in advance to avoid delays during morning and evening peak hours.
