Recently, due to a large amount of sweet potato starch waste residue in a stone pit and the lack of three-proof measures, the moisture from the residue seeped into the groundwater, causing water pollution and resulting in yellow groundwater with a distinct starch factory odor north of Yanma Bridge in Fengmao Town, Shanting District, Zaozhuang. Currently, the company that produced the waste residue has stopped debugging, and all starch residue in the stone pit has been cleared. Staff from the petition department of the Shanting District Environmental Protection Bureau stated that villagers have been informed to suspend use of groundwater, and the polluted groundwater will be pumped out. On November 17, the Shanting District Environmental Protection Bureau received a report forwarded by the Zaozhuang Municipal Environmental Protection Bureau from an environmental protection government Weibo account, reflecting an environmental pollution issue: groundwater in the village north of Yanma Bridge in Fengmao Town, Shanting District, was yellow and had a distinct starch factory odor. The Shanting District Environmental Protection Bureau immediately organized law enforcement personnel to investigate on-site and reported the investigation and handling situation.
It is understood that on November 18, law enforcement personnel from the Shanting District Environmental Protection Bureau went to the village north of Yanma Bridge in Fengmao Town to investigate. The investigation found that there was a large amount of sweet potato starch waste residue in a stone pit east of Lijing Village. Because the stone pit lacked three-proof measures, the moisture contained in the residue seeped into the groundwater, causing water pollution. Verification confirmed that the residue in the stone pit came from Zaozhuang Jinhengda Ecological Agriculture Technology Co., Ltd., south of Ouyu Village, which produced a small amount of residue during machine debugging without approval from the environmental protection department and transported it to the stone pit on the eastern hill of Lijing Village for drying. Law enforcement personnel from the district environmental protection bureau immediately issued a rectification notice to the company, ordering it to immediately stop debugging, clear the residue from the stone pit, and strictly comply with the environmental impact assessment approval.
On November 23, law enforcement personnel from the district environmental protection bureau inspected the stone pit east of Lijing Village. All residue in the stone pit had been cleared. Zaozhuang Jinhengda Ecological Agriculture Technology Co., Ltd. has now stopped debugging, and the original residue is being dried as raw material for feed. Comforting work has been done for the villagers.
