In Binjiang New City of Hunan Xiangjiang New Area, a super high-rise building cluster composed of four skyscrapers is rising——Binjiang International Financial Center, which will also become the largest super high-rise building cluster in Hunan. The reporter learned yesterday from the general contracting company of China Construction Fifth Engineering Division that pile foundation construction has begun for Towers T1 and T2 of Binjiang International Financial Center. Tower T1, 328 meters tall, is the tallest building in Hexi, and its largest pile foundation reaches a diameter of 7 meters, making it the largest pile foundation on record in the province.

Binjiang International Financial Center is located on the core central axis of Binjiang New City, with a total land area of about 60,000 square meters, a total floor area of 630,000 square meters, and a total investment of 3.3 billion yuan. The project is adjacent to Chazishan Station on Metro Line 4 and is positioned as a financial landmark of Hunan Xiangjiang New Area. According to Dai Li, chief technical engineer of the Binjiang International Financial Center project of the general contracting company of China Construction Fifth Engineering Division, the project includes four super high-rise towers and a four-story commercial podium. Among them, T1 is a 328-meter-tall, 65-story super high-rise Grade A office building and the tallest building under construction in Hexi, Changsha; T2 is a 258-meter-tall Grade A office building and ultra-five-star hotel; T3 is a 168-meter-tall office building; and T4 is a 158-meter-tall incubation office and apartment building and a commercial shopping center of about 120,000 square meters.

The project is being constructed in two parts, the east zone and the west zone. At present, T3 and T4 in the west zone have been built to about the 20th floor and are expected to be completed in the first half of 2018; pile foundation construction has begun for T1 and T2 in the east zone, which are expected to be completed by the end of 2019. Dai Li said that as the tallest building in Hexi, Tower T1 has underground pile foundations with a diameter of 7 meters, and the maximum concrete volume of a single pile exceeds 700 cubic meters. The reason such large pile foundations are required is that a single steel component of the building weighs up to 35 tons and adopts a crossed diagonal column form, so ground load-bearing must be fully considered. At present, this kind of diagonal steel frame column is used domestically only in projects such as the Guangzhou West Tower, and it can create beautiful curves on the building surface.

It is reported that Binjiang International Financial Center has already attracted financial institutions such as China Minsheng Bank, Shanghai Pudong Development Bank, China Guangfa Bank, Changsha Bank, and Jixiang Life Insurance. After completion, the center will not only become another landmark building in Changsha, but will also attract more financial institutions to settle in, thereby shouldering the responsibility for regional business and financial development and becoming a source of momentum for the development of Binjiang New City.
