Recently, the news that the Nanxinzhuang area has been rehoused but the primary school has not been rebuilt has aroused public concern. Relevant departments in Huaiyin District have clearly stated that large-scale construction will begin within a month. So what is the actual progress on site? On June 2, the reporter visited the reconstruction site and learned that the construction party stated that the primary school will be completed and handed over in August next year.

The primary school started construction on April 12

On the morning of that day, the reporter saw at the construction site that the foundation work of the school had been completed, and workers were busy tying rebar. On the blue notice board erected at the site, the reporter saw that the construction unit of the project is Jinan Old City Development and Investment Group Co., Ltd., and the start date is April 12, 2016.

A person in charge of the Nanxinzhuang shantytown renovation project of the Old City Group told the reporter that the project started on April 12. "We have made a notice board at the construction site. According to the relevant requirements of the Municipal Construction Committee, public information such as the construction unit, construction contractor, start date, and completion date are clearly marked. This site will not only house Nanxinzhuang Primary School, but according to the plan, a 48-class primary and secondary school and an 8-class kindergarten will be built here." The reporter learned that this nine-year consistent primary and secondary school has 5 floors and a construction area of 15,949.23 square meters; the kindergarten has 3 floors and a construction area of 2,723.97 square meters; in addition, supporting facilities such as outdoor public toilets and guard rooms have a construction area of 174.86 square meters.

"The foundations you see are for the primary and secondary school. The cushion layer has been completed, and we are preparing for rebar tying of the frame column foundations. Where the rebar is being tied is the kindergarten, which has entered the foundation rebar tying stage," the person in charge told the reporter.

The planned completion time of the school is the end of 2017

The construction party stated that it will be fully completed by the end of August 2017

So when exactly will the school be built? When will the children be able to enroll? In response to the reporter's questions, the person in charge said that according to the use requirements of the Huaiyin District Education Bureau for the school, the Old City Group needs to complete the supporting construction handover by December 2017.

"Considering that children start school in September, we have taken reasonable schedule control measures to shorten the construction period and plan to fully complete the project by the end of August 2017. Complete and hand over to the Education Bureau as early as possible, and strive for children to enroll as soon as possible." The reporter saw at the site that the notice board showed the planned completion time as June 2017. The construction party stated that after completion, the supporting facilities will still need about 2 months, so the completion and handover will be at the end of August. As for when children can enroll after the project is completed, the person in charge said that this requires overall arrangement by the education system, but they will strictly follow the group's requirements and hand over before the end of August 2017.
