 Overview:

SPV355 is a Japanese-standard medium-temperature pressure vessel steel, executed under technical standard JIS G3115. It is widely used in petroleum, chemical, power station, boiler and other industries for manufacturing equipment and components such as reactors, heat exchangers, separators, spherical tanks, oil and gas tanks, liquefied gas tanks, nuclear reactor pressure shells, boiler drums, liquefied petroleum gas cylinders, high-pressure water pipes for hydropower stations, and turbine spiral cases.

Steel Plate Inspection Methods:

a) Number and sampling direction of specimens for tensile and bending tests

From each hot-rolled steel plate directly rolled from the same slab or ingot, one tensile specimen and one bending specimen shall be taken perpendicular to the rolling direction. For heat-treated steel plates, one specimen shall be taken from each batch of steel plates heat-treated under the same conditions.

b) Number and sampling direction of specimens for impact test

From each steel plate directly rolled from the same slab or ingot, one sample blank shall be taken, and three specimens shall be taken from each sample blank parallel to the rolling direction, unless otherwise specified. For heat-treated steel plates, one sample blank shall be taken from each batch of steel plates heat-treated under the same conditions.

c) Sampling position for tensile and bending test specimens

Specimens shall be prepared such that the center of the specimen is at a quarter of the width from one side edge and, in the case of No. 4 tensile specimens, also at a quarter of the thickness from the surface. However, when the center of the specimen cannot be fixed at a quarter of the width from the side edge or a quarter of the thickness from the surface, the sampling position shall be as close as possible to the specified position.

d) Sampling position for impact test specimens

Specimens shall be prepared such that the center of the specimen is at a quarter of the width from one side edge and a quarter of the thickness from the surface. However, when sampling at this position is impossible, the sampling position shall be as close as possible to the specified position.
