The conference was hosted by JSTI Group Co., Ltd., the Jiangsu Provincial Highway Society, and the National Engineering Laboratory for Advanced Road Materials (NLARM), and was held in Nanjing. More than 400 delegates from road management, research, testing and inspection, supervision, construction, and maintenance sectors in China, the United States, Australia, South Africa, the United Kingdom, and other countries attended the conference. Jia Yu, former president of the International Society for Asphalt Pavements (ISAP); Gerry Huber, former president of the Association of Asphalt Paving Technologists (AAPT); and John D'Angelo, former head of asphalt pavements at the U.S. Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), presented the latest research progress on Superpave binders and mixtures to the conference. Experts and scholars in the Superpave field from various provinces in China also shared their insights and experiences, exchanged information on the application of Superpave technology in China, and discussed the future development trends of Superpave technology in China.

Over the 20 years of Superpave technology application in China, EPC's SHRP program research equipment has been fully applied at South China University of Technology, the Testing Center of Guangdong Provincial Transportation Group, Guangzhou Xinyue Asphalt Co., Ltd., and many other universities and research institutions. Among them, SHRP program research equipment such as the DSR dynamic shear rheometer, BBR bending beam rheometer, DT direct tension tester, PAV9500 pressure aging vessel, research-type gyratory compactor, and mixture rutting tester has made important contributions to the PG grading of highway asphalt in Guangdong Province! In its 30 years in the highway testing industry, EPC has always taken it as its mission to provide customers with top-level international advanced equipment and technology, contributing its strength to the rapid development of China's highway industry.

Superpave development history:

Superpave is the abbreviation of Superior Performance Asphalt Pavement and is one of the important research achievements of the U.S. Strategic Highway Research Program (SHRP, 1987-1993). In 1995, JSTI took the lead in introducing a complete set of Superpave asphalt binder and mixture testing equipment and a full set of specifications in China, thus opening the prelude to the localization of Superpave; in 2000, JSTI participated in paving the first Superpave test road, and the evaluation results were good, marking the entry of Superpave technology into the promotion and application stage; in 2005, Superpave technology was applied and studied in projects such as the Shanghai-Nanjing Expressway expansion, bringing the technology into a stage of deepened innovation. During this period, several special seminars on Superpave technology were also held, and more than 30 American experts were invited to give technical lectures in many places, providing comprehensive explanations of Superpave technology in aspects such as materials, design, performance testing, construction, and quality management. From technology introduction to test road paving, Superpave has now been promoted and applied in more than 20 provinces, with a total mileage of more than 10,000 kilometers, achieving fruitful results.
