On March 8, a reporter learned from the Yibin Municipal Transport Bureau that, in order to advance the construction of expressways, railways, and port waterways, Yibin aims to complete 15 billion yuan in transportation construction investment in 2016, of which 10 billion yuan will go to highways and water transport, and 5 billion yuan to railways and airports.
To advance expressway construction, Yibin will accelerate the construction of the Yibin–Xuyong and Yibin–Yiliang expressways, ensure that the Yibin–Xuyong Expressway is fully completed and opened to traffic by the end of June, and strive to start construction on three expressways: the Yiwei Expressway, the Yiren Expressway, and the Yipan Expressway; it will also advance the preliminary approval work for the Yibin section of the Renmuxin Expressway and the Nanxi–Fushun Expressway.
To advance the Chengdu–Guiyang high-speed railway project, Yibin will strive to bring the Yibin section of the South Sichuan Intercity Railway and the Yibin section of the Longhuang freight railway into substantive construction; it will cooperate in accelerating the preliminary work of the Chongqing–Kunming railway and will report to higher authorities and seek investment promotion for the construction of the Yixi railway. For port and waterway construction, the focus will be on completing the heavy-cargo berth and bulk-cargo berth in the Zhicheng operation area as well as a group of port projects, and on advancing waterway transport projects such as upgrading the Yibin–Chongqing section of the Yangtze River waterway from Class III to Class II and upgrading the Yibin section of the Jinsha River waterway and the Yibin section of the Min River waterway to Class III. In 2016, Yibin aims to complete 15 billion yuan in transportation construction investment.
