On March 7, it was learned that the construction of the first major heavy-lift terminal in the Taicang Port Area of Suzhou Port, undertaken by CCCC Third Harbor Engineering Co., Ltd., is progressing smoothly. All indicators are within controllable ranges.
Runhe Terminal construction site
The first major heavy-lift terminal in Taicang Port Area -- the Taicang Runhe Heavy Industry Terminal marine project, with a total investment of 280 million yuan, is being built in Phase I. It includes one 50,000-ton general berth, 361 meters long and 40 meters wide, and an approach bridge 285.6 meters long and 32 meters wide. The design load is twice that of an ordinary general cargo terminal (the design load of a general cargo terminal surface is 2 tons per square meter, while the design load of the Runhe terminal and approach bridge is 4 tons per square meter). In addition, considering the special conditions of the Yangtze River shoreline at Taicang Port, the project has designed the rear land area at the same elevation as the terminal surface, which can meet the requirements for roll-on/roll-off shipment of heavy and extra-large complete machines. Phase I of the Runhe Heavy Industry Terminal is designed with an annual throughput capacity of 1.31 million tons. The construction period is 540 days. The contract value for the terminal marine engineering construction is 135 million yuan. At present, all construction indicators are within controllable ranges, and construction is progressing smoothly. The marine terminal is scheduled to be completed by the end of July.
After the terminal is put into use, it can meet the year-round berthing requirements of 50,000-ton general cargo ships and can also realize the integrated transportation of heavy and extra-large cargo at the terminal, greatly facilitating the import and export of complete sets of major equipment for the Yangtze River Economic Belt and the Yangtze River Delta. It will play a role in the port-side economy of the Taicang Port Economic and Technological Development Zone in Suzhou, the construction of the Major Equipment Manufacturing Industrial Park, and the economic development of the middle and upper reaches of the Yangtze River.
