In 2016, Lianyungang will invest 5.065 billion yuan in trunk highway construction, completing 50 km of roads with a quality rate above 98%. Rural road construction will receive 300 million yuan, adding or upgrading 300 km of roads and renovating 30 bridges. Safety improvement projects will be implemented on 100 km of national and provincial roads.

      This year is the opening year of the 13th Five-Year Plan. The Lianyungang highway department has designated this year as critical for the transformation, upgrading, and innovative development of the city's highway transportation, striving to build a safe, smooth, smart, efficient, and green highway transportation network and service system to provide strong support and guarantees for building an international seaport center city. The city's highway department will vigorously advance key projects and continuously improve the main highway network. It will fully promote the construction of the Xinpu to Guannan section of National Highway 204, achieving full subgrade connectivity, completing medium and small bridges and culverts, completing 20% of the pavement base course, and completing 80% of the substructure and superstructure of large and extra-large bridges. It will steadily advance the Guannan section rerouting project of Provincial Highway 235, completing 4.3 km of subgrade and two large bridges on the western extension. It will accelerate the project from the Jiangsu-Shandong border to Ganyu Qingkou on Provincial Highway 242, completing subgrade and medium and small bridges and culverts, and completing the main structure of large bridges.

      At the same time, within this year, several provincial highways in Lianyungang will be newly included in the construction scope, mainly including starting construction of the Chaoyang interchange on Provincial Highway 242, completing land acquisition, demolition, and part of the bridge substructure. Starting construction of the Third Yanhe Bridge on Phase III of the Guannan Xingang Avenue project on Provincial Highway 345, completing part of the substructure. Starting construction of the Ganyu section of Provincial Highway 402, the Ganyu section of Provincial Highway 267, the Donghai Pingming interchange to Shuyang section of Provincial Highway 267, and the Donghai section of Provincial Highway 268, achieving substantive progress within the year. Advancing preliminary work for the Lianyungang section of Provincial Highway 344 and the Ganyu to Donghai section of Provincial Highway 245, striving to start construction.
