In recent years, the Weifang Binhai District Science and Technology Association has actively promoted the construction of science popularization infrastructure in line with regional characteristics, planning and designing two public science education bases: the Binhai City Art Center and the Weifang Binhai Ocean Science Museum, creating a favorable atmosphere for the popularization of scientific knowledge and the building of a smart city in Binhai District.
Creating highlights for the benefit of the public. Binhai District has actively built the Weifang Binhai City Art Center. With a building area of 26,080 square meters, four floors above ground and one underground, and a building height of 26.8 meters, the center is divided into three main functional areas: conference, cultural and sports, and urban exhibition. It uses multiple new materials and technologies, and advanced digital and information technology means such as sound, light, and electricity to fully display the characteristics of Binhai's marine culture and modern flavor, and has been built into a base for public science education. It is reported that the center has been completed and will soon open to the public. In addition, Binhai District has built the Malaysia Ocean Science Museum of Weifang Binhai Tourism Group. Through digital interactive multimedia, combined with high-tech sound, light, and electricity, the museum combines education with entertainment. Through interactive experience, it is a fun science base that brings people close to the ocean, allowing audiences to learn about the ocean. The Ocean Science Museum is divided into three sections: the evolution of the ocean, the gifts of the ocean, and the protection of the ocean. Once completed, these two science education bases with marine characteristics will provide a broader platform and阵地 for Binhai District to further strengthen science popularization and enhance the public's scientific and cultural literacy, and will play a positive role in popularizing scientific knowledge, advocating scientific methods, spreading scientific ideas, promoting the scientific spirit, facilitating resource sharing, and improving the scientific literacy of the whole people.
Strengthening the construction of science education bases in primary and secondary schools. The Binhai District Science and Technology Association has worked closely with the Public Utilities Bureau to make full use of science education bases, youth palaces, national robot practice bases, and campus science activities to widely carry out the integration and sharing of science resources. Binhai Middle School has established a robot laboratory, and Binhai Experimental Primary School has built the Shandong Province Youth Four-Wheel Drive Science Studio; Bohai Experimental School, Weifang Jinhai Primary School, and Binhai Experimental Primary School have established municipal-level robot laboratories. Binhai International School and Weifang Jinhai Primary School have been awarded the title of Animation Education Experimental School by the Central Audio-Visual Education Center; Binhai Middle School, Weifang International School, Binhai Experimental Primary School, and Weifang Jinhai Primary School have been rated as schools with distinctive computer production activities by the Municipal Education Bureau; Binhai Middle School, Bohai Experimental School, Binhai No. 3 Middle School, Weifang Jinhai Primary School, and Binhai Experimental Primary School have been rated as demonstration schools for robot laboratory teaching in Weifang City.
Strengthening the science popularization organization network and team building. Member units of the Binhai District Leading Group for National Scientific Literacy, all streets (communities), and all parks have adjusted their respective work leading groups accordingly, and every village and community has a dedicated science popularization liaison. Among them, Dajiawa Street has 53 science popularization volunteers, Yangzi Street has 46 science popularization volunteers, and the Binhai District Volunteer Association has 207. Sixteen administrative villages, including Dongxing, Mengjia, Nanchen, Qili, Shiqiao, Shuanghe, Xizhou, Xinxing, Yuanzi, Yuyuan, Zhouyi, Zhouer, Zhousan, and Zhousi, have all established volunteer teams including college student village officials, organizing more than 30 volunteer activities such as National Science Popularization Day, traffic science knowledge training volunteer service, science popularization film screenings, Learn from Lei Feng volunteer service, and international kite surfing competitions, with more than 2,000 participants. All four communities in Yangzi Street have established science popularization volunteer leading groups. Binhai District has formed a joint force of coordinated management from top to bottom, providing a strong institutional guarantee and a large team of science popularization talents for the comprehensive realization of the scientific literacy work goals in Binhai District.
Improving the construction of mass media's science and technology communication capacity. To promote the scientific spirit, popularize scientific knowledge, spread scientific methods, and improve the scientific and cultural literacy of the public in Binhai District, the Binhai District Science and Technology Association, together with the District Publicity and Cultural Center, has given full play to the role of mainstream media. With Binhai Daily, Binhai TV Station, Binhai Media Network, and the Weifang Binhai WeChat public platform as the main positions, it has created columns such as the "Binhai District National Scientific Literacy Column" and "Science Popularization Caravan", which are published on major newspaper pages and broadcast during prime time on TV and radio. In addition to mainstream media, Binhai District has also actively explored platforms for science popularization. It uses Fetion groups to send scientific knowledge. In cooperation with various street offices, communities, village committees, primary and secondary schools, and functional departments, it regularly posts science popularization posters using existing publicity columns. The opening of the National Scientific Literacy Column has broadened the channels for science popularization knowledge publicity, enhanced the social atmosphere for improving national scientific literacy, and provided a guarantee for Binhai District to achieve the phased goal of improving national scientific literacy.
