On January 20, the planning and land supervision teams of Pingdi and Bantian Subdistricts in Longgang District conducted illegal construction inspections and demolition operations in heavy rain, demolishing two illegal buildings in their jurisdictions.

Iron sheet factory building expanded next to slope

At No. 3, Lane 3, Fuxin Road, Pingdi Subdistrict, an additional ring of iron sheet-roofed structures "extended" from a factory building, almost filling all the surrounding open space. The rolling shutter door of the factory was tightly closed, and the nameplate at the entrance read "Longgang Pingdi - Mingli Plastic Products Co., Ltd."

It is worth mentioning that adjacent to the iron sheet-roofed structures is a very steep slope. Looking along the slope, its height is roughly equal to that of the three-story building opposite. The slope is covered with construction waste such as steel plates and stones, as well as discarded plastics. About half of the illegally expanded building "follows the slope down" and is built directly on the steep slope. The passageways around the building are not equipped with safety facilities such as guardrails.

After communication by law enforcement officers, the other party opened the factory gate. From inside the factory, it could be seen that some ground piles had been driven into the ground in the expansion area, and several steel frames supported the iron sheet roof of the house. Afterwards, law enforcement officers set up ladders in the rain and climbed onto the roof, gradually demolishing the iron sheet roof with oxygen cutting machines.

"The site is close to the slope, and the terrain is steep and dangerous, so it can only be demolished manually step by step," said the person in charge of the Pingdi Subdistrict Planning and Land Supervision Team. The illegal building was discovered by law enforcement officers during a recent patrol, with a construction area of about 400 square meters. The company had illegally expanded the factory without permission, and the expansion site was on a steep slope, posing a major safety hazard.

Container houses built on forest land

On the 20th, an illegal building at a fishing ground in Ma'antang Community, Bantian Subdistrict, was also demolished. When the reporter arrived at the scene, half of a newly built wall had been demolished. Inside the wall were illegal container houses, and two workers were cutting the houses.

"It was originally an open space near a hillside, but the illegal builder used containers to set up houses," said an on-site law enforcement officer. At the end of December last year, law enforcement officers discovered the illegal construction. After investigation, the location was found to be forest land, and law enforcement officers immediately issued a "Notice to Order Cessation of Illegal Acts." Afterwards, the Bantian Subdistrict Law Enforcement Team, together with the community, communicated with the illegal builder multiple times and finally decided on forced demolition.

"The construction area of the illegal houses is about 400 square meters, and the demolition operation began on January 19," said a law enforcement officer. Because the owner had previously built a wall in front of the houses, they had to demolish the wall first, then bring in large machinery to remove the cut houses, and finally order the owner to restore the damaged green space. The entire demolition work will take three to four days to complete.
