On January 13, the reporter learned that Xi'an Metro Line 5 has officially started construction. Currently, 5 stations including Hepingcun Station have entered the enclosure construction stage.
At Hepingcun Station, the first station of Xi'an Metro Line 5, workers are carrying out preliminary piling work. Currently, 5 stations including Hepingcun Station have entered the enclosure construction stage, marking the full launch of Metro Line 5 construction.
Xi'an Metro Line 5 has a total length of 25.4 kilometers, running from Hepingcun Station in the west to Fangzhicheng Railway Station in the east. It is another major east-west artery after Metro Line 1. The line has 21 stations in total, including 20 underground stations and 1 elevated station, and is expected to open for trial operation in 2020. At present, all 16 construction sections of the first phase of Metro Line 5 have entered the construction stage.
Han Rimei, Director of the Second Engineering Division of Xi'an Metro Office: "Compared with previous lines, Line 5 takes more consideration of traffic impact. There are seven half-covered stations along the line. During station construction, a temporary bridge is erected over half of the station to facilitate vehicle passage, while metro construction is carried out simultaneously beneath the bridge."
