Wuhan Metro Line 27 connects Wuchang and Jiangxia, starting from Yezhihu Station of Phase I of Line 7, passing through Hongshan District, Jiangxia Daqiao New Area and Zhifang Old Town, and ending at Qinglongshan Metro Town. With a total investment of 11.55 billion yuan, the line is 16.9 kilometers long and has 7 underground stations. It is expected to open for trial operation by the end of 2018. At present, the pile foundation work is in full swing.

Below 16 meters is rock, and the drilling speed has slowed down noticeably. With an ordinary rotary drilling rig, it took three days to drill one pile. The weather has been bad this year, and at that efficiency the project could not be completed on schedule by the end of the year. After the project department selected the SUNWARD SWDM45 rotary drilling rig, three piles can be completed per day, ensuring the project is completed on schedule. In metro construction, the penetration depth at each survey point varies according to geological conditions. At the intersection of Wenhua Avenue and Zhifang Street in Jiangxia District, Wuhan, on Wuhan Metro Line 27, the pile diameter is 1.2 meters, the rock penetration is 30 meters, and limestone is encountered at 16 meters. The contractor is the project department of China Construction Third Engineering Bureau. The contractor stated that the SWDM45 rotary drilling rig has very high construction efficiency, and they decided that the difficult parts of Line 27 would all be handled by this SWDM45 rotary drilling rig.
