"A time will come to ride the wind and cleave the waves," under the guidance of Cangnan County Government's "Compare, Learn, Help" activity, with the strong support of Longgang New City Management Committee leaders, under the guidance of quality supervision, safety supervision, design, and supervision units as well as higher-level functional departments and inspection teams at all levels, and driven by the "Hundred-Day Sprint" labor competition, the Bacao bridge builders "forged ahead" and "overcame difficulties." At 8 PM on January 9, 2016, the first section of the first (No. 18) pier body of the Bacao Bridge Project (Phase I) in Longgang New City, Cangnan County, undertaken by China Railway First Group Bridge Company, completed pouring after ten hours, with the entire process going smoothly. This marks the full-scale launch of the substructure construction of the main bridge crossing the navigation channel.

The No. 18 pier body poured this time has a design elevation of over 19 meters. It is a rectangular solid reinforced concrete pier with central grooves set on the front and back sides along the longitudinal direction of the line.

To ensure the first pier body is solid inside and beautiful outside, the project department adhered to refined management and standardized construction, and strictly implemented the first-article acceptance system. In the early preparation, the construction plan was repeatedly optimized, the construction process was refined, and detailed and strict requirements were made for processes from rebar tying and concrete control to formwork fabrication and positioning assembly to ensure quality control. The owner and supervision unit participated in the preparatory meeting and related disclosure training for the first pier body.

At the preparatory meeting, Chief Supervisor Yuan Jidong pointed out that the construction unit should show the drive of the Luban Prize (the Bacao Bridge project manager brought back the China Construction Engineering Luban Prize last November for the original Jiujiang Second Bridge project) and implement the disclosure. Director Luo Mingsun of the Management Committee emphasized the need to implement emergency plans and drills, strengthen patrol supervision during the process, assign responsibilities to individuals, and reasonably arrange construction time. Project manager Zhao Yunfeng re-emphasized issues of concern such as tie rods, formwork lateral pressure, pouring speed control, and vibration.

At the same time, in response to the actual situation of increasing safety risks in high-altitude operations, the project department increased safety management efforts, setting standardized requirements for foundation pit fence protection, material stacking, and formwork assembly at the construction site; while conducting technical and quality disclosures for each process and link, it adhered to safety management disclosures and strictly implemented safety monitoring measures; for high-altitude rebar tying, lifting operations, formwork assembly and erection, dedicated personnel were assigned for on-site supervision to ensure comprehensive and effective control of construction safety.

At 7:00 the next day, project manager Zhao Yunfeng convened management and service personnel in the project meeting room to discuss the gains and losses of the successful pouring of the first pier body. As the future unfolds, all construction personnel will display their talents and realize their grand plans.
