At midnight on December 12, the last pile foundation of Pier 12 of the Yuanjiang Grand Bridge project, constructed by the Third Company of China Railway Construction Bridge Engineering Bureau Group, was successfully poured, marking the completion of all pile foundations for the Yuanjiang Grand Bridge. This is the first work site among the three major control bridges (Xiangjiang Grand Bridge, Zijiang Grand Bridge, and Yuanjiang Grand Bridge) on the entire Huai-Shao-Heng project to complete the pile foundation works. It is another important milestone achieved following the completion of the pile cap for Pier 11.
Tremie installation
The Yuanjiang Grand Bridge is located in Anjiang Town, Hongjiang City, Hunan Province, with a total length of 1479.61 meters, crossing the Yuanjiang River. Piers 10-13 are part of a (90+180+90) meter low-tower cable-stayed bridge, and Piers 11 and 12 are the main piers of the (90+180+90) meter low-tower cable-stayed bridge, each with 15 pile foundations, each 73 meters long and 2.5 meters in diameter. The bored piles are large in diameter and deep, making construction difficult and highly affected by flood seasons. Pier 12 adopted the construction method of piles first and cofferdam later. A trestle bridge was set up at Pier 12 as an overwater construction platform, using the trestle as a material transport channel and support for water and power pipelines. First, the positioning piles and steel pipe piles were constructed, and positioning guides were installed on the platform to complete the vibratory driving and installation of steel casings. The drilling rig was then positioned for bored cast-in-place pile construction.
As a key and difficult project of the Huai-Shao-Heng project, the Yuanjiang Grand Bridge required ensuring timely, safe, and high-quality completion. Leaders of the group company, relevant departments, and the engineering company visited the site multiple times to provide guidance and optimize the plan. The project department organized strongly, allocated sufficient resources, and provided full support to ensure the bridge achieved each stage's schedule targets. Next, they will continue to carry forward the spirit of the iron army, implement the group company's "Three Strive" philosophy, organize meticulously, plan ahead, and push forward strongly to ensure the bridge achieves the ultimate goals of short construction period, high quality, and high efficiency, while accumulating valuable experience for the group company's bridge engineering in-water pier construction.
