On December 11, the "Geotechnical Engineering Technology Forum" of the 3rd Wuhan Design Biennale was held at the Research and Technology Center of Central South Architectural Design Institute. The forum was mainly organized by Central South Survey and Design Institute (Hubei) Co., Ltd.
Geotechnical engineering is the most challenging engineering field of the 21st century. With the large-scale construction of national cities, high-rise and super high-rise buildings, and urban complex development, the demand for geotechnical engineering is increasingly urgent. However, geotechnical engineering carries high risks, featuring information asymmetry, uncertainty, and fuzziness; it is a comprehensive disciplinary system, so innovation is necessary for the rapid development of geotechnical engineering. Nowadays, domestic geotechnical engineering has entered a period of great development.
"In recent years, Wuhan has been at a construction peak. During construction, pile foundation work, foundation pit excavation, and groundwater treatment involve large-scale extraction of groundwater, which has altered the geological environment, leading to an increasing number of ground collapse geological disasters." said Zhang Xiaoyu, Deputy Chief Engineer of Central South Survey and Design Institute (Hubei) Co., Ltd.: "Treatment based on detailed site investigation, special karst investigation, and construction investigation can effectively prevent collapses."
Huang Tao, Deputy Chief Engineer of MCC Wuhan Survey and Research Institute Co., Ltd., delivered a speech titled "Treatment of Deep Soft Soil Foundations." He vividly demonstrated the entire process of foundation treatment engineering with pictures and humorously explained, "This is not engineering but art."
In addition, Liao Jiansheng, Chairman of Wuhan Survey and Design Co., Ltd., conducted an in-depth discussion on engineering geological research in Wuhan's urban development area, and Ma Yun, Deputy Chief Engineer of Central South Survey and Design Institute Co., Ltd., presented the application example of the double-row pile patent in the Wuhan Capitaland Mall Gutian Project.
