随着舟山群岛新区建设脚步加快，位于金塘大浦口的甬舟集装箱码头二期即将开工，原海缆金塘登陆点位于甬舟集装箱二期码头工程范围内，供电可靠性将受到影响，而且，甬舟集装箱码头水域大型船舶进出频繁，对海缆安全构成威胁。为确保码头二期工程顺利进行，推进宁波-舟山港区建设，甬舟公 司与市电力局从2011年就着手准备海缆移位工程，完成了新登陆点选址、审批及新海缆敷设等前期工作。
据了解，新海缆由6条各长约6公里横截面达500平方毫米的缆线组成，一头连接无人岛黄蟒山岛，一头连接金塘岛，金塘侧新登陆点比原先东移约1.9公里。
