Saudi Arabia plans to build the world's tallest building, with an investment of 1.2 billion USD. The tower is expected to be 1000 meters tall and is the first step of the "Kingdom City" project.
The project will include a hotel, serviced apartments, luxury apartments, and offices, covering an area of 852 square miles. Originally, the plan was to build a 5280-foot tower, which would take 12 minutes to reach the top by a regular elevator, but the height was reduced due to concerns that the foundation might not support such a height.
Prince Alwaleed mentioned that the skyscraper will break the record of the Burj Khalifa, which opened in 2010. The Burj Khalifa has 160 floors and is 2717 feet tall. It is not only the world's tallest building but also the world's tallest freestanding structure.
In comparison, the tallest building in the United States—the Willis Tower in Chicago—is 1451 feet tall, or 1729 feet including the roof antenna. Prince Alwaleed hopes this tower will send a "message of strength" amid the current severe economic situation.

Foundation construction of the Kingdom Tower:

The foundation of the world's tallest tower requires driving 270 piles to a depth of 110 meters underground

The construction includes driving 72 piles of 1.5 meters in diameter to 110 meters underground, 154 piles of 1.5 meters in diameter to 49 meters and 89 meters underground, and 44 piles of 1.8 meters in diameter to 50 meters underground. A total of 270 piles.

Drilling construction uses BG series drilling rigs produced by the sister company Bauer Machinery. These long piles were installed using two modified Bauer BG40 rotary drilling rigs, specially configured for extra-long Kelly piles.

Wet concrete is 'sprayed' to the top of the tower using a high-pressure thin pipe about 15 cm in diameter, and can only be transported at night; otherwise, the desert heat during the day would cause the concrete to dry and set inside the pipe.

Main construction starts immediately after pile foundation completion, without excavation

Partial enlargement reveals that the crane is indeed from Sany Heavy Industry... Six large Chinese characters are clearly visible, but it's unclear what they say....

Tower cranes are still being prepared, and a new wave of pouring has arrived. Another tower crane has been added, and now there are 4 standard sections.

The Kingdom Tower will become the core building of Kingdom City. Kingdom City is a new urban area under construction on a 5-square-kilometer plot in northern Jeddah. The tower is planned to be 1,001 meters tall, surpassing the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, UAE. The Burj Khalifa currently holds the record for the world's tallest building at 828 meters.
