The Silk Road Culture and Art Center is the first batch of launched projects of the Impression Western Regions International Cultural Tourism Industrial Park, located on the west bank of the Tunhe River at the junction of Urumqi and Changji, with a total investment of 1.2 billion yuan, a site area of 280 mu, and a total floor area of 100,000 square meters.

With the Xinjiang Grand Theater as the main body, the complex includes related supporting facilities such as the Silk Road Culture and Art Research Institute, the Silk Road Museum, the Silk Road Culture Exhibition Corridor, a concert hall, a conference center, a culture and art training center, and a tourism promotion center. It is a large-scale cultural landscape architecture integrating culture, performing arts, tourism, and leisure.
The Impression Western Regions International Cultural Tourism Industrial Park broke ground in April 2013 and is expected to be completed in May 2018. The entire project will take five years. Once completed, it will become a cultural tourism distribution base in Xinjiang. Various ethnic-featured performances organized year-round will exert a strong appeal to domestic and foreign tourists, with broad market prospects.
As one of the first-phase launched construction projects of the Impression Western Regions International Cultural Tourism Industrial Park, the Xinjiang Grand Theater has been listed by the autonomous region as a key project of the cultural tourism industry during the 12th Five-Year Plan period.
The Xinjiang Grand Theater has a building height of 80 meters. It is currently China's most iconic building featuring ethnic culture and the core building of the Impression Western Regions International Cultural Tourism Industrial Park. The main body sits on a gentle platform base and takes the blooming Tianshan snow lotus as its prototype. Through abstract and innovative design methods, it forms the main image of a dome with inner and outer layers. The exterior finish uses yellow-brown metallic-luster aluminum panels to express a light and fashionable quality, while the inner core's golden brick texture expresses strong regional cultural characteristics of Xinjiang.
The Xinjiang Grand Theater will not only become Xinjiang's urban reception hall facing the world and welcoming guests from all directions, but also a base for excavating and displaying Xinjiang's multi-ethnic folk customs and song-and-dance culture.
