　　The incident occurred near Zhenning Cuifeng Residential Community. This section of road has collapsed twice, and residents believe it may be related to construction at a nearby development.
At around 4 p.m. on August 18, a section of road leading from Mingxiu Road in Nanning to Zhenning Cuifeng Residential Community collapsed, blocking the entire road. Fortunately, no people or vehicles were passing over it at the time; otherwise, the consequences would have been unimaginable. It is reported that in March this year, a collapse had already occurred at this location, though the area was slightly smaller. This collapse covered a larger area and has raised concerns among nearby residents. A residential project under construction at Jiangyu Century City, adjacent to the collapsed road, is currently in the foundation-laying stage. Residents believe the two road collapses may be related to construction at the nearby development.
That afternoon, the main gate of Zhenning Cuifeng Residential Community on Mingxiu Road had been closed. Several security guards were directing residents to detour around the area, and a sign at the gate read "Road collapsed ahead." A cordon had also been set up on the other side of the road. Adjacent to the collapsed road is the residential project under construction at Jiangyu Century City, which is in the foundation-laying stage, with a foundation pit about 10 meters deep beside the road. The blue fencing at the construction site had also shifted along with the collapsed road.
Mr. Luo, who lives in Zhenning Cuifeng, told reporters that the collapsed road connects to Mingxiu Road and is the main route for residents entering and leaving the community, with thousands of residents passing along it every day. "Fortunately, the collapse did not happen during rush hour, and there were few vehicles and people passing by; otherwise, the consequences would have been unimaginable." Recalling the moment the road collapsed, Mr. Luo was still frightened. At the time, he was riding an electric bike along this section of road. He had just gone a short distance when he heard a loud crash behind him. He turned around and saw that a section of the road he had just passed had collapsed, and the adjacent pavement and soil were loosening and slowly sinking. Seeing this, he could not help breaking out in a cold sweat.
After the incident, staff from the nearby project's construction contractor and the Nanning Construction Management Office also arrived at the scene. Ling Zhong, a senior engineer at the Construction Management Office, said the area of this road collapse was about 800 square meters. At present, they have required the construction contractor to suspend work and have set up warning signs to prohibit people from entering the dangerous area. The Construction Management Office will send an expert group to investigate the specific causes of the collapse. Road collapse is closely related to factors such as soil conditions and weather, so it cannot yet be determined whether the collapse was caused by the residential project's construction.
