Recently, the reporter learned from the Hunan Provincial Bureau of Foreign Experts Affairs that the Hunan Advanced Equipment Manufacturing Technology Sub-forum of the 10th China-US Engineering Technology Symposium will be held in Changsha from May 26 to 28, where 32 top Chinese and American experts will share their insights.
    It is understood that the China-US Engineering Technology Symposium was initiated by the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs and the Chinese-American Engineers Society (CIE/USA), an organization of American experts of Chinese descent. It is held in China every two years and has been successfully held nine times so far. Through the active efforts of the Hunan Provincial Bureau of Foreign Experts Affairs, the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs agreed to host this year's symposium in Changsha. In December 2010, Changsha's construction machinery industry reached the level of a 100-billion-yuan industrial cluster, becoming Changsha's first 100-billion-yuan industrial cluster and the first among domestic cities to break the 100 billion yuan mark. From January to March 2014, the output value of large-scale industry in Changsha's construction machinery sector reached 39.455 billion yuan, an increase of 6.8%.
    This symposium is jointly hosted by the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs, the Provincial People's Government, the Chinese Institute of Engineers/USA (CIE/USA), and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), and will focus on the theme of "Advanced Equipment Manufacturing Technology." Wang Guishu, Deputy Director of the Hunan Provincial Department of Human Resources and Social Security and Director of the Provincial Bureau of Foreign Experts Affairs, said that through such a high-level forum, Changsha's construction machinery industry will be encouraged to continue making progress in independent innovation, intellectual property protection, and key supporting components.
