Recently, the "2014 China Dual-Use Technology Application Promotion Conference," co-hosted by the China Defense Science and Technology Industry Enterprise Management Association, the China Academy of Aerospace Systems Science and Engineering, the National Security Strategy and Defense Economy Research Professional Committee, the China Technology Exchange, and the National Council of "Dual-Use Technology and Products," was held in Beijing. Zhang Zhengqing, Chairman of CSR Yuchai, was invited to attend the conference, where CSR Yuchai was awarded the trophy for "China's Top Ten Innovative Enterprises in Dual-Use Technology."

 

    It is reported that the conference, themed "Promoting Military-to-Civilian Conversion and Introducing Civilian Participation in the Military," aimed to explore efficient mechanisms and strategies for promoting and transforming dual-use technological achievements, and to provide decision-making references for relevant departments in formulating policies and plans for the "13th Five-Year Plan" for military-civilian integration development.

 

    In order to establish outstanding benchmark units that drive the development of China's dual-use technology, encourage outstanding enterprises to "join the military as civilians" and "convert military technology to civilian use," and promote the transformation of military scientific and technological achievements, the conference specially set up the 2014 "Top Ten Innovative Enterprises in Dual-Use Technology" selection process. After rigorous preliminary and final reviews, a panel of authoritative experts in the field of military-civilian integration in China concluded that CSR Yuchai, based on national and defense construction needs, successfully developed a series of medium- and high-speed engines using light diesel, heavy oil, and gas as raw materials during the critical period of advancing military-civilian integration development. In particular, its independently developed 16V280 main propulsion engine has been installed and applied on two 500-ton roll-on/roll-off ships, making positive contributions to the promotion and application of dual-use technology in China. CSR Yuchai was therefore specially awarded the title of "China's Top Ten Innovative Enterprises in Dual-Use Technology."
