Bauer Full Displacement Pile Construction Technology

The full displacement pile (FDP method) uses the torque and feed force provided by the drilling rig to drive the displacement drill bit into the ground, forcing the soil in the space occupied by the bit into the surrounding soil; during extraction of the bit, concrete is simultaneously placed, and finally a reinforcement cage is inserted to form a pile.

Construction using the full displacement pile method offers the following advantages:

1. Due to the effect of the full displacement pile in densifying the surrounding soil, the pile's side friction is significantly increased, thereby increasing the bearing capacity of a single pile, reducing pile settlement, and increasing the safety factor. Under the same design load conditions, piles formed using the full displacement pile method allow optimization of pile length and pile diameter, thereby reducing project cost. As shown in Figure 1, Bauer carried out construction using three pile-forming methods at the site, and the resulting comparative data of the load—settlement curves of the piles are presented.
