Standardization Administration: Guidelines for the Construction of an Urbanization Standards System to Be Compiled

The Standardization Administration has proposed launching the compilation of guidelines for the construction of a new-type urbanization standards system in the near future, and has clarified preliminary ideas for building the new-type urbanization standards system. This was learned by the reporter on the 19th from the Standardization Administration.

　　According to the Standardization Administration, the new-type urbanization standards system will include four aspects: first, social management and public service standards such as the citizenization of agricultural transfer population, urbanization layout and form, sustainable urban development, urban governance, and intensive use of urban land; second, standards related to green buildings and building materials, standards related to municipal infrastructure construction, and standards related to strategic emerging industries; third, standards related to urban energy infrastructure, standards related to safety and security infrastructure construction, and standards related to smart city construction; fourth, standards related to new rural construction and standards related to modern agriculture.

　　The Standardization Administration stated that standardization is playing an increasingly important role in China's urbanization process. Judging from the relevant content of the National New-Type Urbanization Plan (2014-2020), the construction, management, and operation of towns and cities, as well as their social management and public services, all require the support and regulation of standardization. Standardization is a practical need for standardized and refined urban management, and is also an inherent requirement for solving the weak links and specific problems in current urbanization work.

　　In addition, the plan explicitly mentions standards in areas such as air quality, buildings, disaster prevention, construction land, economical and intensive land use, high-standard farmland, livestock and aquatic products, standardized farmers' markets, and compulsory education. Only by adapting to the requirements of new-type urbanization construction can standardization effectively support the country's new-type urbanization construction.
