Exhibition Overview:
The 2014 Second Indonesia International Steel, Aluminum, Tube, Wire & Fastener Exhibition (INASAL) is a comprehensive exhibition in Indonesia's metallurgical sector. This is the second edition of the exhibition and will be held in Jakarta from August 14 to 16. The exhibition is guided by the Ministry of Industry of Indonesia, organized by WAHYU PROMO CITRA, PT (WPCITRA), in cooperation with Hannover International Exhibition Company, and supported by the Indonesian Iron and Steel Industry Association, International Steel Times, etc. At the previous Indonesia Steel, Aluminum, Tube & Wire Exhibition, 52 Chinese companies participated, with an exhibition area of 600 square meters. In addition to the International Steel and Aluminum Products Exhibition, the same venue will also host the Indonesia Tube Exhibition, Wire & Cable Exhibition, Glass Exhibition, Door & Window Exhibition, HVAC Exhibition, and Coatings Exhibition.
Market Overview
Indonesia is the largest economy in Southeast Asia and a member of ASEAN and the G20. With a population of 230 million and more than 20 million overseas Chinese, Indonesia is the fourth most populous country in the world and has huge market potential. In recent years, the country has enjoyed political stability and friendly relations with China, and its market has shown great vitality. According to a Morgan Stanley report, Indonesia's economy will grow by 60% within the next five years to reach US$800 billion. In 2012, trade between China and Indonesia reached US$62.75 billion. In 2010, the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area opened, with the two sides having a combined population of 1.9 billion and a GDP of US$9 trillion, the largest in the world. Chinese enterprises entering ASEAN enjoy zero tariffs, and Indonesia, as the largest ASEAN member, is the first choice for Chinese enterprises to explore the ASEAN market.
With Indonesia's economic take-off and rapid industrial modernization, demand for pipes and cables is growing day by day. Large-scale construction in fields such as power, energy, communications, marine, oil and gas has created enormous demand for cables and pipes. The Indonesian government expects US$150 billion in investment in infrastructure over the next three to five years. It is reported that the project of Indonesia's state-owned electricity company (PLN) to build 10 million kilowatts of power stations has increased Indonesia's domestic demand for cables in 2013 by 30% compared with 2012. Demand in 2012 had already grown by 20% over 2011. Indonesia's vigorous construction of power stations has triggered a domino effect in the cable market, with demand for cables rising generally across power stations, transmission lines, distribution, substations, and ultimately end consumers. In addition, it has also boosted demand for cables in telecommunications infrastructure, gas networks, railway operations, and households. The growth in cable demand has also led to increased demand for cable raw materials. Indonesia's demand for aluminum has risen from 200,000 tons last year to 230,000 tons, while demand for copper has grown to 400,000 tons. At present, Indonesia's domestic aluminum supply cannot meet demand, with annual supply of only 50,000 tons, which is shared by various sectors of the national economy, so more than 80% of the aluminum used in cable manufacturing needs to be imported. Noval Jamalullail, Chairman of the Indonesian Cable Manufacturers Association, said that Indonesia's cable output will increase by 20% by 2012, from 150,000 tons to 180,000 tons.
