Cat® highlights commitment to customers with unmatched “Built for It™” product lineup
March 4, 2014 (Las Vegas, USA) — At the 2014 CONEXPO-CON/AGG in Las Vegas, USA, Caterpillar Inc. (NYSE: CAT), the world's largest manufacturer of earthmoving, construction and mining equipment, highlighted its latest technology solutions and fuel efficiency improvements for construction equipment that meet U.S. EPA Tier 4 Interim and Tier 4 Final emissions requirements. Caterpillar had a strong presence at the show, occupying a total area of 60,000 square feet divided into four exhibit areas, with more than 40 machines on display.
“Our customers experience the advantages of Cat equipment and our dealer network in their daily use, but we still look forward to using the triennial CONEXPO-CON/AGG platform to showcase Cat's latest product lineup to customers,” said Douglas Oberhelman, Caterpillar Chairman and CEO. “This year, we are very excited to show how Cat Connect solutions help customers make the most effective use of their existing machines, as well as our latest construction machinery products.” Cat Connect solutions provide customers with flexible services and solutions to monitor, manage and enhance jobsite productivity, safety, fuel usage, equipment utilization and uptime. With a broad technology suite, Cat Connect solutions integrate products, processes and people, helping customers succeed on the jobsite and in fleets of any size.
“We often hear from customers using our products that, in addition to technology advantages that help improve operator performance and productivity, fuel efficiency is also a key driver for improving their operations,” said Ed Rapp, Caterpillar Group President. “Accordingly, we have delivered machines that meet U.S. EPA Tier 4 Interim and Tier 4 Final emissions standards, and these machines significantly improve fuel efficiency, and our customers have noticed these improvements. This not only helps customers succeed by lowering operating costs, but also enables more sustainable operations with fewer emissions—meaning better quality, fewer emissions and better fuel economy. This truly demonstrates the power of system integration and the strength of Cat products and services.”
Caterpillar exhibit highlights: Integrated technology solutions—Cat Connect solutions are the main focus of the North Hall exhibit, combining Cat technology products and services in an integrated, scalable form. Regardless of the scale and complexity of the operation, or the model or material of the machines used, Cat Connect solutions give customers the flexibility to choose from a variety of technologies and services to meet jobsite requirements and achieve business success.
Hydraulic hybrid and advanced powertrain technology—More than a dozen new Cat machines made their debut at this year's CONEXPO-CON/AGG, including the new Cat 336F hydraulic hybrid excavator. This model will replace the Cat 336EH hybrid excavator to meet Tier 4 Final emissions standards; it saves more fuel without sacrificing power or productivity.
The new M Series wheel loader lineup is another highlight at the show, represented by the Cat 972M XE. Equipped with the XE advanced powertrain, it can achieve an average fuel savings of 25% compared to older models using conventional torque converters; this also demonstrates how improved fuel efficiency provides customers with more sustainable choices.
Product support solutions—This is a new area for Caterpillar at this year's CONEXPO-CON/AGG. Cat Product Support in the South Hall showcases a selection of new/remanufactured parts, components and services. In the Gold Lot exhibit area, Caterpillar displayed 15 machines, including new motor graders and scrapers that incorporate innovative technologies to help operators improve performance and productivity. Visitors can see the Cat Merchandise Center, Cat Rental area and Cat Dealer area in the Gold Lot exhibit area.
