Conference Background:
The 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China proposed that ecological civilization construction should be integrated into the "Five-in-One" framework of economic, political, cultural, social, and ecological development. Over the thirty years of China's rise through reform and opening-up, cities have achieved tremendous development and made significant contributions. While the urban landscape continues to change, people also deeply feel that urban air, surface water and groundwater, soil, and other environments are polluted to varying degrees. Therefore, building ecological civilization in densely populated cities, the main carriers of the economy, is particularly important and urgent.
When the first Forum on Urban Environment and Sustainable Development was held in Shanghai in 2010, it focused on the World Expo slogan "Better City, Better Life." The focus of this forum is "Ecological City, Beautiful City." The core of urban ecological civilization construction is the safety of the urban environment. Only when cities can achieve sustainable development can the dream of a happy city be realized.
