The Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee has announced the first batch of selections for the "Ten Thousand Talents Program." Nine experts and scholars in the field of surveying, mapping and geoinformation—Zhang Jixian, Wang Donghua, Liu Jiping, Li Chengming, Tang Xinming, Shi Chuang, Cao Xiaohang, Liu Yaolin and Tang Guo'an—have made the list.

      Recently, the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee announced the first batch of selections for the "Ten Thousand Talents Program." Nine experts and scholars in the field of surveying, mapping and geoinformation—Zhang Jixian, Wang Donghua, Liu Jiping, Li Chengming, Tang Xinming, Shi Chuang, Cao Xiaohang, Liu Yaolin and Tang Guo'an—have made the list.

      The "Ten Thousand Talents Program," also known as the National High-level Talent Special Support Program, is a national-level major talent project focused on the cultivation and support of domestic high-level talents. It runs in parallel with the "Thousand Talents Program," which recruits high-level overseas talents. It is under the unified leadership of the Central Talent Work Coordination Group and is jointly organized and implemented by 11 departments, including the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, and the Ministry of Science and Technology. The overall goal is to spend 10 years selecting and supporting about 10,000 high-level talents who can represent the country's first-class level and have leadership ability and team organization skills in fields such as natural sciences, engineering technology, philosophy and social sciences, and higher education. The "Ten Thousand Talents Program" selects candidates in seven categories: outstanding talents, leading talents in scientific and technological innovation, leading talents in science and technology entrepreneurship, leading talents in philosophy and social sciences, renowned teachers, leading talents in the Hundred-Thousand-Ten Thousand Project, and top young talents. These are selected respectively by five recommendation platforms: the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, the Ministry of Science and Technology, and the Ministry of Education.

      The first batch of the "Ten Thousand Talents Program" comprises 542 people in total, including 96 leading talents in the Hundred-Thousand-Ten Thousand Project, 200 leading talents in scientific and technological innovation, 52 leading talents in science and technology entrepreneurship, 93 leading talents in philosophy and social sciences, and 101 renowned teachers. Among the nine experts in surveying, mapping and geoinformation, two—Zhang Jixian (Chinese Academy of Surveying and Mapping) and Wang Donghua (National Geomatics Center of China)—were selected as leading talents in the Hundred-Thousand-Ten Thousand Project; five—Liu Jiping (Chinese Academy of Surveying and Mapping), Li Chengming (Chinese Academy of Surveying and Mapping), Tang Xinming (Satellite Surveying and Mapping Application Center, National Administration of Surveying, Mapping and Geoinformation), Shi Chuang (Wuhan University) and Cao Xiaohang (Beijing NavInfo Technology Co., Ltd.)—were selected as leading talents in scientific and technological innovation; and two—Liu Yaolin (Wuhan University) and Tang Guo'an (Nanjing Normal University)—were selected as renowned teachers.

      The nine experts above have an average age of 48. Among them, six (Zhang Jixian, Wang Donghua, Liu Jiping, Li Chengming, Tang Xinming and Liu Yaolin) are currently scientific and technological leading talents of the National Administration of Surveying, Mapping and Geoinformation.
