Recently, the Linpan Drilling Branch of Southwest Petroleum Engineering Co., Ltd. applied its self-developed continuous-row movable foundation device for the first time, safely completing the integral skidding of a 70D rig in just 40 minutes. The device greatly reduces construction safety risks and greatly improves production efficiency.
In the face of the high pace of production operations and the requirements of the "surface speed-up" project, rig skidding by drilling crews in the past was time-consuming and labor-intensive, and safety risks were relatively high due to the large number of cranes and large bulldozers required. In particular, the 70D rig is very heavy, and its substructure and mast are overweight, resulting in excessive friction between the substructure and the foundation. Each integral rig skidding required four cranes working together with a bulldozer to complete, which was time-consuming, and the substructure movement speed fluctuated greatly during skidding, making construction difficult and risky.
To further improve production efficiency, the company's production, equipment and other departments, under the organization of the responsible leaders, carefully conducted on-site investigations and analyses, and put forward a feasible plan and measures to develop a continuous-row foundation device using scrapped drill pipes. The continuous-row movable foundation device adopts a drill-pipe continuous-row method with double-sided welding on four sections of edging, with twelve blocks per row. The foundations are connected by tie rods to prevent displacement during integral rig skidding. Because the continuous-row foundation reduces the contact area and friction coefficient, the friction between the rig substructure and the foundation is also greatly reduced. With the new foundation, only one crane working with a bulldozer is needed to complete the integral skidding, and construction difficulty and safety risks are greatly reduced. Replacing the original steel-wood foundations and cement foundations with the continuous-row foundation device reduces the frequent damage to steel-wood foundations during skidding and generates economic benefits.
In the integral skidding application on Well Tian 5-Xie 31 of Crew 70216 on January 12, the rig was skidded into place in only 40 minutes. The successful application of the new foundation device reduces construction difficulty, greatly lowers safety risks, and significantly shortens the time required for rig moving. According to a comparison before and after use, production efficiency with the device increased by more than 50%, further accelerating the pace of production operations.
