Linyi, located in southeastern Shandong, is home to China's largest market cluster and is known as the "Capital of Logistics and a Famous Commercial City." Lanshan District of Linyi has a long history and profound culture; it is the hometown of the "Sage of Calligraphy" Wang Xizhi and the "Supremely Filial" Wang Xiang, and has long been praised as "a beautiful ancient city in southern Lu, a place of many famous scholars of Langya." It is also the seat of the Linyi Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government and the political, economic, cultural, and commercial center of southeastern Shandong. The Ridong Expressway and the eastern coastal railway run through the district, while National Highway 205, National Highway 327, and several interprovincial trunk roads intersect and connect here.

The Lanshan Branch of the Linyi Municipal Highway Administration is responsible for the management and maintenance of two national highways and one provincial trunk highway within its jurisdiction. As early winter arrives, the branch's various pavement management and maintenance tasks have nearly concluded. This year, the branch completed more than 30 kilometers of pavement maintenance work, including a 19-kilometer major pavement overhaul of the Yitan section of National Highway 205, auxiliary engineering construction on the 15-kilometer Yinan section of National Highway 205, and the construction of 15 kilometers of Linyi's West Outer Ring Road. Throughout its projects, the Lanshan Branch has consistently strictly controlled quality, strengthened its sense of responsibility, and completed all construction tasks on time and with high quality. The projects it built have a quality qualification rate of 100% and an excellent rate of over 95%, and it has repeatedly received praise from superior leaders.

On December 6, our reporter and colleagues arrived at the Lanshan Branch of the Highway Administration. Entering the gate, we first saw various pavement machinery and equipment neatly parked in the yard, including more than ten pieces of XCMG pavement equipment such as tire road rollers, double-drum rollers, single-drum rollers, and motor graders. Among these machines, the most eye-catching was the XCMG XM101K milling machine. According to Liu Zheng, Section Chief of the Equipment Section, the pavement management and maintenance work of the Lanshan District Highway Administration this year has ended, and the main current task is to maintain and repair the existing machinery and equipment. He said that with the improvement of automation in maintenance operations, the management and upkeep of machinery and equipment have increasingly become a focus of daily highway maintenance work. At the same time, to strengthen the management of maintenance equipment, improve equipment utilization, improve equipment technical conditions, and ensure future safe production, we have adopted corresponding measures to strengthen machinery and equipment management, implementing "fixed personnel, fixed machines, and fixed responsibilities" for the use of existing machinery and equipment, assigning responsibility for use, maintenance, and safekeeping to specific individuals. During the shutdown period, we also strengthen training for machine operators and improve the quality of machinery management personnel. We regularly invite professional technical personnel from XCMG to provide machinery maintenance management training to our branch's machine operators and machinery management personnel. These measures are all designed for next year's construction season, to ensure that various types of pavement machinery and equipment can operate normally so as to better serve our district's highway maintenance work. We must prepare for rainy days.

Speaking of the work plan for 2014, Section Chief Liu said that according to the national highway network plan, for a long time to come, the focus of highway transportation construction work will gradually shift from new road construction to maintenance and operation management, and the state will increase the upgrading and renovation of existing national and provincial highways. We will also focus our work in the coming years on upgrading and renovating existing highways and intensify the renovation and maintenance of the two national highways and one provincial highway in our district. Our branch has already begun implementing this plan this year and has adjusted our unit's existing pavement equipment, replacing the old with the new to ensure the smooth progress of next year's work.

Among this batch of updated equipment, Section Chief Liu is especially fond of the XCMG XM101K milling machine and speaks highly of it. He said that to improve the efficiency of highway maintenance work, in July this year we ordered an XM101K milling machine from XCMG. As a product commonly used in maintenance engineering, the pavement milling machine faces harsh working conditions, which places great demands on the reliability of the machine and its spare parts. After several months of use, we are very satisfied with the performance of this milling machine. When choosing a milling machine, we compared domestic and foreign manufacturers, and after comprehensive evaluation, this XCMG XM101K milling machine offered the highest cost-effectiveness, and in actual use we have become even more convinced of this. The XM101K milling machine has precise control accuracy, high work efficiency, low fuel consumption, and overall performance far exceeding milling machines of other brands. The addition of this milling machine has greatly reduced the labor intensity of workers, eased their work pressure, and will be of great help to our pavement management and maintenance work next year.

Before coming to Linyi, the author had heard that the Lanshan Branch of the Linyi Highway Administration had a long history of cooperation with XCMG, and from Section Chief Liu's remarks we confirmed this. After taking a sip of tea, Section Chief Liu continued: we have had a cooperative relationship with XCMG for nearly thirty years. Starting in the mid-1980s, our previous generation began using XCMG equipment. According to archival records, the first piece of equipment our unit purchased from XCMG was a XCMG Luyou three-wheel road roller. In the mid-1990s, when I graduated and was assigned to the Linyi Highway Bureau, the products I came into contact with most were also XCMG products, such as single-drum vibratory rollers, pneumatic-tire rollers, and later motor graders. Times have changed and equipment has been replaced several times, but for many pieces of pavement machinery we still choose the XCMG brand. Decades of cooperation have also given us a deep understanding of XCMG's culture. XCMG's pavement equipment not only has excellent product performance and stable, reliable operation, but what convinces us even more is XCMG's after-sales service. The service XCMG provides us is not limited to the repair and maintenance of machinery and equipment; it is more reflected in human-centered support. From a young hothead back then to now at the age of forty, I have always followed XCMG's development. In recent years, XCMG's maintenance equipment has developed rapidly, and its market share has increased significantly every year. Its milling machines have consistently ranked first in the domestic market. Being able to cooperate with XCMG is also our honor.
