On April 13, the Chongqing Engineers Association held a unit member meeting to earnestly convey and implement the spirit of the Chongqing Association for Science and Technology's publicity and society work conference, with special emphasis on enhancing its own capabilities to adapt to sci-tech services.
The Municipal Engineers Association currently has 193 unit members, with nearly 200 representatives attending the meeting. In response to the requirements put forward at the two meetings of the Municipal Association for Science and Technology, it was believed that according to the new situation, new tasks, new requirements and its own development needs—especially the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China's proposal to further transform government functions and give play to the role of social organizations—to shoulder heavy responsibilities, one must have a sense of urgency that cannot wait, a sense of crisis that cannot afford to be slow, and a sense of responsibility that cannot sit still, and strive to enhance good academic innovation, broad social credibility, strong member cohesion, and robust independent development capacity. Only in this way can it provide good services for scientific and technological innovation, the government and society, and sci-tech workers, and truly make the society's work bigger and stronger.
The meeting made arrangements for improving its own organizational leadership, running the society in an open manner, and ensuring this year's key tasks, and specially invited Professor Chen Wanzhi, former vice chairman of the Municipal CPPCC, to give a special report titled "Economic Development and Enterprise Transformation and Innovation," so that everyone could better absorb knowledge and nourishment from it and enhance the consciousness of innovative sci-tech services.
