Dandan: Looking back at the industry's history and looking forward to a new future for foundations, hello everyone, I'm Dandan from Foundation Engineering Network.

Chongqing, also known as Bayu, Mountain City, Yudu, and Bridge Capital, is one of the four municipalities directly under the Central Government of the People's Republic of China. It is one of the five national central cities, a national historical and cultural city, and the world's capital of hot springs; it is one of the four international metropolises designated by the State Council, the economic center, financial center, and innovation center of the upper Yangtze River region, as well as a center for politics, shipping, culture, science and technology, education, and communications. Rotary drilling rig operator Chen Ke comes from this hilly region known as the "Bridge Capital." Today we are fortunate to connect with him. Hello, Mr. Chen.

Mr. Chen: Hello.

Dandan: Please give us a brief self-introduction.

Mr. Chen: Hello everyone, I am rotary drilling rig operator Chen Ke, and I have been in this industry for six years.

Dandan: This is the first time since the event started that the call has been frequently interrupted as it was just now. Could you explain what happened?

Mr. Chen: Yes, I am currently at a construction site, and because the project under construction is in a relatively remote location, the signal is not very good.

Dandan: Where is the project you are currently working on located?

Mr. Chen: Our current project is at Nanchong Country Garden.

Dandan: Compared with all previous projects, does it fall into the relatively easy category?

Mr. Chen: This is a villa construction project, and the lower layers are not so solid, so piling is relatively easy, and the project progress is quite fast.

Dandan: A century-old tree can stand firm against wind and rain because it has a long root system that grips the soil firmly, so the same should apply to the villa. What are the conditions of its pile foundation and floors?

Mr. Chen: Yes, this villa has two or three floors, and we only need to drive piles about ten-plus meters deep.

Dandan: When did this project start? When is it expected to be completed?

Mr. Chen: We are on the second phase of the project, and I don't know when it started. We came at the end of last year. As for when it will end, that is not very clear at the moment either.

Dandan: When interviewing other operators before, the requirements for taking on projects were also frequently mentioned, such as the ease of the strata and regional limitations. Do you pay special attention to these aspects?

Mr. Chen: There are certain requirements. We generally take on projects with relatively easy piling strata. As for the region, there is no limit at present, but most of the work is currently in the Sichuan area.

Dandan: Up to now, how many rotary drilling rigs does your boss own? Which one are you using?

Mr. Chen: Our company has six rotary drilling rigs in total, and I am currently using the 280 model.

Dandan: Does this rotary drilling rig take on many projects? Which manufacturer is it from?

Mr. Chen: It's okay. It was bought from Sany in 2009.

Dandan: Some time ago, a Sany rotary drilling rig at a construction site had a rollover accident. Most netizens said it was because Sany's chassis was too light, which led to this situation. What is your personal view on this?

Mr. Chen: I heard about this too. Of course, it is an indisputable fact that Sany's overall chassis is too light, but in fact the operator's handling accounts for the vast majority of the reasons.

Dandan: Up to now, what problems have you encountered while using rotary drilling rigs?

Mr. Chen: Actually, no major problems have occurred so far, probably because I am more careful when operating. But some minor problems are still unavoidable, such as drill bit breakage or cracks in the drill pipe, but the welders can fix these, so there is no need to worry too much.

Dandan: Which project did you feel went smoothly and was completed quite perfectly? In other words, a project you often talk about with others.

Mr. Chen: Since I started in the rotary drilling industry, projects such as Dongcheng Peninsula in Sichuan and Chongqing Yangtze River Bridge have all gone relatively smoothly.

Dandan: Can you disclose your salary?

Mr. Chen: 8,000.

Dandan: The Spring Festival is over. What are your plans for this year?

Mr. Chen: In the new year, I plan to work hard with my boss and then go into business for myself.

Dandan: Thank you, Mr. Chen, for accepting our interview. We wish you good luck in the Year of the Horse, good health, and all the best.

Mr. Chen: I wish your engineering network even greater success.
