On the 29th, currently Asia's largest single-building photovoltaic power project was connected to the grid in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province.
The photovoltaic project is installed on the roof of the main station building of the soon-to-be-opened Hangzhou East Railway Station, with a total installed capacity of 10 megawatts and a total investment of 240 million yuan.
According to the builder, Zhejiang Chint Solar Technology Co., Ltd., the project generates about 10 million kWh of electricity annually, which can meet the annual electricity demand of nearly 5,000 urban households and more than 20,000 people in Hangzhou.
Zhejiang's power grid is mainly based on thermal power generation. Due to the large power shortage, a single power source structure can no longer meet local electricity demand. Therefore, it is imperative to actively develop and utilize clean and renewable energy such as solar energy in the region.
Hangzhou is located in the southern wing of the Yangtze River Delta and at the western end of Hangzhou Bay. It belongs to the northern subtropical monsoon zone and is relatively rich in solar energy resources, with an average annual peak sunshine duration of about 1,346.85 hours over many years. It is a Class IV solar energy resource area in China and is suitable for building solar photovoltaic power projects.
The Hangzhou East Station hub has a building area of 1.13 million square meters and a total investment of 25 billion yuan. After Hangzhou East Station opens on July 1 this year, it will become the largest railway hub in the country.
Building a solar photovoltaic power project on the roof of the main station building of Hangzhou East Railway Station is also a major manifestation of the extensive use of energy-saving and environmental protection technologies at the Hangzhou East Station hub.
Compared with traditional thermal power generation, photovoltaic power generation is a green, clean and pollution-free energy project, and distributed photovoltaic power generation will be the future trend. Compared with thermal power generation, after the rooftop photovoltaic project of the Hangzhou East Railway Station hub is connected to the grid, it can save 3,281 tons of standard coal per year and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 8,104 tons, sulfur dioxide emissions by 65.62 tons, and dust by 32.81 tons.
As of the end of May this year, Zhejiang had a total of 82 distributed photovoltaic projects with a total capacity of 389.1 megawatts, ranking first among all provinces in China's State Grid system.
Including the East Railway Station project connected to the grid on the 29th, the Hangzhou Electric Power Bureau has completed grid connection for 20 users, with a total power output of 21.38 megawatts.
