As the Spring Festival approaches, traffic pressure in the urban area is mounting. Yesterday, the reporter learned that the city is implementing or about to implement a batch of road projects that will ease urban traffic congestion. Among them, the feasibility study report for the Hanjiang Road South Extension Project has passed expert review and is expected to start construction around April 18; in the future, Hanjiang Road will extend all the way to the Yangtze River. In addition, a number of new roads, including Jinwan Road, the northern extension of Yunhe North Road, and the northern extension of Jiangdu North Road, are also expected to begin construction within the year.
Hanjiang Road South Extension of 8 Kilometers
The Hanjiang Road South Extension Project is a key project in the municipal government's urban construction. The reporter learned during interviews that the project's feasibility study report has passed expert review, and if the project is formally approved, construction is expected to start around April 18. The relevant person in charge introduced that the project starts from Jiangyang Road in the north and ends at the Yanjiang High-Grade Highway in the south. After completion, Hanjiang Road will extend southward by about 8 kilometers, all the way to the Yangtze River.
At present, Hanjiang Road becomes a dead-end road after heading south to Wuzhou Road. According to the Yangzhou City Master Plan, the Hanjiang Road South Extension Project is one of the "16 vertical" main roads in Yangzhou's central urban area. According to the preliminary plan, the existing approximately 4-kilometer section of Hanjiang Road between Jiangyang Road and Wuzhou Road will be renovated, and a new section from south of Wuzhou Road to the Yanjiang High-Grade Highway will be built, with a length of about 8.1 kilometers. The Hanjiang Road South Extension Project will be built to the standard of a Class I urban main road, with a design speed of 60 km/h and road widths as follows: the reconstructed road will be widened to 50 meters, and the new road will be 40 meters wide.
It is understood that the completion of this project will help strengthen north-south communication in the city, provide convenient traffic conditions for the southern district, and is of great significance for connecting Jiangyang Industrial Park, Weiyang Economic Development Zone, the built-up area of Hanjiang, Yangzijin Science and Education Park, and the riverside area. In addition, the road will serve as a backup dual channel with the Yangzijiang South Road sewage pipe, providing a new channel for discharging urban sewage.
Situmiao Road Express Lane Completed
Situmiao Road is an important passage from the northern part of the main city to Yizheng, and also a road connecting two major arteries, Yangzijiang North Road and Xin'ganquan Avenue. Yesterday, the reporter came to the intersection of Runyang North Road and Situmiao Road and saw that the road's rainwater and sewage pipes had been laid, the express lane had basically taken shape, and the non-motorized vehicle lanes on both sides were still under construction. Before the Spring Festival, the east and west sections of the express lane will be partially open to traffic.
Subsequently, the reporter came to the construction site of the eastern section from Hanjiang North Road to Yangzijiang North Road. The bottom layer of asphalt on the express lane had been paved, and construction was still ongoing on both sides of the road. "The 998-meter eastern section of the motor vehicle lane has been completed, with a design speed of 50 km/h," introduced the project manager.
Jinwan Road and Others to Start Within the Year
At present, Jinwan Road in the Jiangguang integration area is also under planning and construction. The reporter learned during interviews that Jinwan Road (the section from Qiyang Expressway to Shanghai-Shaanxi Expressway) is in the planning and research stage. If all goes smoothly, construction is expected to begin within the year, and after completion it will run through the Jiangguang integration area from north to south.
Yunhe North Road is a major north-south artery in the eastern part of the main city. Yesterday, the reporter learned during interviews that after going north along Yunhe North Road to Jiangping Road, further north it becomes a "dead-end road." At present, the Yunhe North Road North Extension Project has been placed on the construction schedule. According to the planning and design scheme, the road is planned to be 50 meters wide and controlled at a width of 65 meters, and is planned as an urban expressway.
Yesterday, the reporter came to the site of the Jiangdu Road North Extension, where the bridge spanning the ancient canal has been completed. Construction workers told the reporter that at this stage the work is mainly finishing touches, and the road will open to traffic before the Spring Festival. In the future, the history of Jiangdu Road becoming a dead-end road at the ancient canal will be gone forever.
