Construction Trestle for Xiangshui River Sea-Crossing Bridge in Wendeng, Shandong Completed, Laying Foundation for Main Bridge Construction

On January 16, the reporter learned from the Xiangshui River Bridge Project Office that the construction trestle for the Xiangshui River sea-crossing bridge has been completed. This trestle will become the main channel for materials in and out during the construction of the sea-crossing bridge, marking that the sea-crossing bridge has entered the substantive construction stage.

On January 15, at the Xiangshui River Bridge construction site, a large crawler vehicle was embedding a steel bridge deck panel into the narrow bridge body. Construction personnel introduced that the main construction trestle is 813 meters long in total, with a total cost of nearly 4 million yuan, and is located in the sea area around the periphery of the Xiangshui River. As the last steel bridge deck panel was embedded into the narrow bridge body, the construction trestle for the Xiangshui River sea-crossing bridge was completed.

The Xiangshui River Bridge is located in the South China Sea New Area, starting on the east side at the planned Changhai West Road intersection and ending on the west side at the planned Jinlai Road intersection. The route is 1.626 kilometers long in total and is the “finishing touch” of the entire coastal tourism landscape highway, as well as the section with the greatest construction difficulty. The bridge is 1,068 meters long in total, including the east approach bridge, the main bridge, and the west approach bridge. The approach roads on both sides are two-way four-lane, with a design speed of 80 kilometers per hour. The construction contract period is 36 months, and it is expected to open to traffic in 2016.

A relevant person in charge of the Xiangshui River Bridge Project Office told the reporter that the Xiangshui River Bridge is the second double-tower, double-cable-plane cable-stayed bridge in Wendeng after the Changhuikou Bridge. The Xiangshui River Bridge, which connects the Lingang Industrial Zone and the Tourist Resort Area of the South China Sea New Area, will completely open up the coastal tourism landscape highway in Wendeng after completion and will play a significant role in transportation, the economy, tourism, and other aspects. The completion of the construction trestle this time marks that the sea-crossing bridge has entered the substantive construction stage and has laid a solid foundation for the smooth construction of the main bridge in 2014.
