D5200塔式起重机是2010年专门为马鞍山长江大桥的建设开发的，用于吊装大桥的预制构件。在鹦鹉洲大桥的建设中，这台起重机吊装的最大构件重为200t。
项目承包商中铁大桥局总经理胡汉州说，公司在桥梁建设上对起重机的选择十分严格。选择D5200直接影响到桥梁的设计，他说，这台起重机“大大提高了施工效率和降低了建造费用，增强了公司的核心竞争力”。
