Due to the limited space of underground engineering in subway construction, how to safely and effectively manage concealed works with complex structures and huge volumes has become a hot topic of concern across all sectors. Wuxi Metro Line 2 was the first to apply innovative BIM technology, effectively solving many problems such as the intricate and unreasonably laid out underground pipelines.
Traditional subway construction typically uses only CAD to produce two-dimensional pipeline design drawings, which are not visually intuitive and make it difficult to identify collisions between pipeline layouts. The construction of Wuxi Metro Line 2 introduced BIM "three-dimensional integrated pipeline" technology for the first time, that is, first using computers to design "decoration renderings" based on on-site survey data, intuitively reflecting data such as pipeline positions and elevations, and conducting simulated drills for possible pipeline conflicts, equipment interference, spatial hazards and other situations, effectively reducing design errors, greatly improving construction quality and efficiency, ensuring maintenance space for pipelines of various disciplines, and lowering construction risks.
