Reporters learned on December 26 that Beijing has achieved the start of construction on 162,000 affordable housing units this year, with 47,000 units publicly allocated for rent and sale, fully completing the affordable housing task. Through the year's qualification reviews, 10,335 households in Beijing had their affordable housing registration qualifications revoked this year.

According to statistics, Beijing built and purchased 162,000 units of various types of affordable housing this year and completed 85,000 units, exceeding this year's construction task of starting 160,000 units and completing 70,000 units. Projects currently completed or nearing completion include Wangsiying price-capped housing (with public rental housing), Caihong Jiayuan public rental housing, Caihong Jiayuan economical housing, and others.

Starting April 19 this year, Beijing changed applications for the "four types of housing"—low-rent housing, economical housing, price-capped housing, and public rental housing—into applications for "affordable housing," achieving a major shift in the security housing approach from "sale-oriented" to "rental-oriented." As of December 25, the city publicly allocated 47,221 affordable housing units for rent and sale this year, exceeding the city's allocation task of 40,000 units, and all 16 districts and counties completed this year's allocation task.

At the same time, Beijing strictly reviewed affordable housing qualifications and strengthened enforcement. Through qualification reviews throughout 2013, decisions were made to terminate the affordable housing registration qualifications of 10,335 households that did not meet the conditions.
