    Overloading: At around 8 AM on January 5 this year, near the Dingshan Sluice in Haicheng Street, Longwan, driver Guo was driving a large truck transporting soil to the Dingshan Reclamation Area when the vehicle accidentally overturned. During the rollover, the large truck also crushed a nearby simple shed, fortunately causing no casualties. According to investigations, the main cause of the accident was severe overloading of the truck.

    Wrong-way driving: At around 9:30 PM on August 24 last year, on the elevated bridge near Wenzhou South Railway Station, two engineering vehicles collided head-on. Fortunately, there were no casualties; one vehicle was driving in the wrong direction, causing the accident. According to witnesses, at the time of the incident, one engineering vehicle was driving from east to west onto the elevated bridge, while another engineering vehicle was speeding from west to east in the same lane in the opposite direction. As the distance between the two vehicles grew shorter, there was no sign of them slowing down. Finally, with a loud "bang," the two vehicles collided head-on.

    Running red lights: At around 9 PM on October 12 this year, at the intersection of Xuyang Road in Yuecheng Street, Yueqing City, a modified tractor collided with an electric bike. The female rider was caught under the rear wheel of the large vehicle and was crushed to death on the spot. According to surveillance video, the driver ran a red light while making a left turn at the intersection and hit the electric bike, resulting in the tragedy. At the same time, Gu was also found to be overloading.

    Violations of height, width, and length limits: On October 31 this year, a scraping accident between a bus and a truck occurred on the section from Longzhu Street to Zhongxin Street on Yongqiang Avenue in Longwan. A truck was carrying a cylindrical object, and the edge of the cylinder got stuck in the rear of the bus, causing the bus's rear to directly "have a hole punched in it." Police investigation revealed that the width and length of the cylinder on the truck far exceeded the actual loading width and length range of the truck. According to truck driver Gao, he was trying to overtake at the time, but during the overtaking, he ignored the width of the cargo, and as a result, the cargo hit the bus, directly smashing the rear of the bus.

    Visual blind spots: At around 4:50 PM on April 22 this year, a cement mixer truck knocked down a bicycle in Anfeng Industrial Zone, Oubei, Yongjia, killing one and injuring one of the two boys on the bike. According to investigations, the driver Zhang was driving out of a nearby repair shop and preparing to turn right onto the main road. However, as he turned right, due to a visual blind spot, he could not see the cyclist beside him, and the vehicle knocked down the bicycle. At that time, the boy riding the bike was carrying another boy on the back. The accident caused one person to die on the spot and the other to be injured.

    Traffic Police: Will Further Strengthen Penalties for Engineering Vehicles

    "Once an engineering vehicle is involved in an accident, it mostly leads to severe traffic accidents," said a police officer from the Third Squadron of the Fourth Brigade. Many engineering vehicles undergo illegal modifications before going on the road, and after entering operation, they overload and speed, making accidents highly likely. Moreover, overloaded engineering vehicles have excessive loads and exceed emission standards, causing serious pollution to the urban environment. The violation problem of engineering vehicles has seriously affected the travel safety and health of citizens.

    The traffic police department stated that they have been managing engineering vehicles, but management work faces many difficulties. In the engineering transport industry, the practice of affiliation is extremely common. Most engineering vehicles are purchased by individuals and affiliated under the names of transport companies, and individuals have poor bargaining power, so they can only rely on undercutting each other to secure business. Profit margins are excessively squeezed, and carriers can only control costs by overloading, speeding, and continuous transportation, so violations by engineering vehicles inevitably occur. At the same time, there are still a large number of tractors with out-of-town license plates that have not obtained agricultural machinery registration cards. The household registration information of these out-of-town vehicles is not in Wenzhou, driver information is not registered, and some drivers have low qualifications, bringing certain difficulties to management work.

    At the same time, engineering vehicles "like" to overload and speed, especially at night. Therefore, vehicles are extremely prone to danger. In response, the traffic police department will further strengthen efforts to crack down on traffic violations by engineering vehicles and other vehicles, maintain a high-pressure stance, strengthen the management of engineering vehicles, and strictly investigate and punish various violations.
