Although China's economic growth is slowing, China's construction market remains robust, and the upgrading of building materials is also attracting the attention of multinational giants.

The "Shanghai Tower," China's tallest building currently under construction, exemplifies this change. Zheng Daqing, BASF's Senior Vice President for Global Business and Market Development in Greater China, said at a recent conference, "The construction industry is now showing new characteristics—it is faster, with shorter construction times. Previously, building a super high-rise took 3-4 years, and maintenance after concrete pouring required 1-2 months. Now that is no longer necessary. For example, with the Shanghai Tower under construction, the next process can begin just a few days after pouring. This requires innovation in building materials."

BASF has developed a wide range of concrete admixtures. New concrete admixtures can ensure that the flowability, setting, and hardening properties of concrete do not change during transportation.

According to data provided by BASF, China's construction industry accounts for 15% of GDP; 50% of annual energy consumption comes from buildings and their use, and 50% of waste output comes from buildings.
