Last week, 20 provinces and municipalities across the country were hit by smog, with Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei and the Yangtze River Delta particularly severe, and heavily polluted areas almost forming a continuous stretch. The People's Daily Online Environmental Protection Channel compiled and calculated the average Air Quality Index (AQI) based on the daily air quality rankings. Xingtai's average AQI last week was 364, and its AQI exceeded the scale on 3 days. The 10 cities with the worst air quality last week were: Xingtai, Shijiazhuang, Hefei, Baoding, Taizhou, Shaoxing, Changzhou, Lianyungang, Ningbo and Nanjing. Among them, 4 cities are in Jiangsu Province, 3 cities are in Hebei Province, and 2 cities are in Zhejiang.Last week, many cities in Hebei, Jiangsu and Zhejiang frequently appeared on the daily list of the 10 cities with the worst air quality. Ningbo, Hefei, Lianyungang, Shijiazhuang, Baoding and Xingtai each appeared 4 times on the daily list of the 10 cities with the worst air quality.

Affected by the smoggy weather, relatively serious traffic accidents occurred in Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Hebei and other places. Experts remind that when visibility is low, drivers must pay attention to controlling speed; especially in strong dense fog, it is best to stop driving and park the car close to the roadside; before setting out, fully check the vehicle's lighting devices, including fog lights, tail lights, clearance lights and low beams, and turn them on while driving according to visibility conditions; avoid dangerous road sections and honk frequently as a warning. If an accident occurs, try to park the car in a place that does not affect traffic, and personnel should quickly evacuate to a safe area.
