At 9 PM on April 8, as the last piece of concrete at the reserved opening of Working Shaft #1 fell away and the shield machine's cutterhead rotated out of the tunnel, the Fuzhou cable project celebrated the successful breakthrough of its first shield tunnel section.

The Fuzhou power cable project comprises a total of 9 shield tunnel sections. The task of constructing the #0-#1 shield section was undertaken by the project's first launched shield machine with an inner diameter of 5.5 m, which was hoisted and lowered into the shaft on July 5, 2020 and launched on September 10. During construction, it effectively overcame unfavorable factors such as complex geological conditions, and after more than 200 days and nights it successfully reached the #1 shield receiving shaft.

As the first shield tunnel section constructed in this project, the general contracting department vigorously pursued the resumption of work and production while continuing to carry out epidemic prevention and control, steadily accelerating the pace of construction. Through meticulous planning and strict control of shield machine selection, the project overcame technical challenges such as a narrow construction site, complex geological conditions, the difficulty of split launching, and cutter replacement under atmospheric pressure. The project's shield team used the remote shield monitoring system to record various parameters in detail and transmit them in a timely manner to the surface monitoring system, strengthened analysis of the tunneling parameters for each ring, promptly controlled and adjusted the shield machine's attitude, and improved the quality of segment formation and assembly, accumulating valuable technical experience for the subsequent construction of the project.

According to the plan, the Fuzhou power cable project will successively achieve breakthroughs of the #2-#3 shield section and the #10-#9 shield section this month. For the fully completed #0-#1 tunnel section, internal structure construction and the electrical engineering test section construction will soon begin, preparing the way for the project's subsequent phased handover to power construction.
