The rotary drilling rig roared as its bit bored deep into the earth. In early April, the first pile foundation of Tianchang Station on the Ninghuai Railway was successfully drilled, marking the station building project's formal entry into the substantive construction phase. This milestone breakthrough is not only an important landmark in the construction of the Ninghuai Railway, but also heralds a brand-new chapter as eastern Anhui ushers in the high-speed rail era.

Tianchang Station, where drilling has now begun, is the core station of the Anhui section of the Ninghuai Railway. The project adopts a line-side lower-type station layout, creating a transparent and convenient travel space with a single-story waiting area. The station building covers a floor area of approximately 13,800 square meters and stands 23.4 meters tall; the yard has a scale of 2 platforms and 6 tracks, supported by an 8-meter-wide underground passenger passage and a canopy as long as the platforms, fully meeting passenger gathering and distribution needs. A 15,000-square-meter parking lot with 260 spaces is also planned for the station area, enabling seamless transfers among various modes of transport.

In terms of design concept, Tianchang Station centers on "savoring history, envisioning the ages." The building form is light and graceful, with a modern and concise style that both incorporates Tianchang's profound historical and cultural heritage and highlights the unique character of "Blessed Land Tianchang." Once completed, it will become a new gateway landmark showcasing the city's image.

At present, construction of the Anhui section of the Ninghuai Railway is advancing steadily and comprehensively. Along the 45-kilometer construction stretch, all bridge substructure works have been completed, 93% of box girders have been prefabricated and 86% erected, and 28% of bridge deck ancillary works have been finished. According to the construction schedule, girder erection for the entire line will be completed in June 2026, track-laying operations will begin in February 2027, and the line will officially meet opening conditions in the second half of 2027. This major transportation artery, with a total investment of approximately 7.1 billion yuan, is jointly funded and built by the Anhui Provincial Investment Group and the Chuzhou Municipal People's Government, and serves as a key link for the coordinated development of Jiangsu and Anhui.

As an important component of the Yangtze River Delta intercity rail transit network, the Ninghuai Railway runs 179.365 kilometers in total with a design speed of 350 kilometers per hour. It connects Huai'an to the north and Nanjing to the south, running through Jiangsu and Anhui provinces. Once the line opens to traffic, it will completely end Tianchang's history of having no high-speed rail access, integrating the city into the Yangtze River Delta high-speed rail "half-hour living circle" and enabling direct travel to core cities such as Nanjing and Huai'an within one hour, greatly shortening regional time-space distances.

For Yangtze River Delta integration, the completion of the Ninghuai Railway will further improve the layout of the regional intercity rail transit network and strengthen transport connectivity and the flow of production factors between Jiangsu and Anhui. It will become a "golden corridor" for the rapid circulation of development factors such as talent, technology, and capital, helping eastern Anhui deeply integrate into the broader high-quality development of the Yangtze River Delta and injecting strong momentum into industrial upgrading, livelihood improvement, and economic takeoff in cities along the route, writing a brand-new chapter in the coordinated development of Jiangsu and Anhui.

From the drilling of pile foundations to the laying of tracks, from blueprints to physical reality, every step of progress on the Ninghuai Railway embodies the sweat and wisdom of its builders. When trains speed through in 2027, this steel dragon will surely cross the land of eastern Anhui, becoming a "fast lane" connecting history with the future and empowering regional development, injecting lasting vitality into the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta.
