Since the beginning of 2026, power grid construction sites across Guizhou's mountains and rivers have been bustling with activity, with major projects such as China Southern Power Grid Guizhou Power Grid's 500 kV Machang Substation, 500 kV Wuchuan Power Transmission and Transformation Project, and 220 kV Duyun Shuanglong Power Transmission and Transformation Project advancing steadily.

In the first quarter of 2026, China Southern Power Grid Guizhou Power Grid Company plans to invest 1.774 billion yuan in power grid infrastructure construction, a year-on-year increase of 21%. With this strong investment, it is laying a solid foundation for energy security, taking a firm first step in power grid construction for the 15th Five-Year Plan period, and injecting powerful momentum into Guizhou's high-quality development.

During the New Year holiday, nearly 1,800 person-times stayed at their posts at major project sites of Guizhou Power Grid, with construction continuing without interruption.

On January 3, at the construction site of the 500 kV Machang Substation, workers were methodically carrying out decoration of the main control building and inspection building, ancillary works such as the substation perimeter wall and planting soil backfilling, and grounding installation for equipment in the 500 kV area. Overall progress has reached 86%. As an important component of Guizhou Power Grid's strong main grid framework of "three horizontal links, two interconnections and one center," the 500 kV Machang Substation involves a total investment of 510 million yuan and is the first 500 kV substation in Gui'an New Area. Once completed, it will provide a power supply capacity of 2 million kilowatts, significantly enhance power supply reliability in central and southern Guiyang, and provide key support for implementing the national strategy of "West-to-East Power Transmission." At the same time, it will inject crucial momentum into the construction of Gui'an New Area as a national hub node of the national integrated computing network, ensure the electricity needs of data centers such as those of Huawei and Tencent, and provide strong power support for the effective implementation of the "East Data, West Computing" project, helping optimize the national computing network layout.

In northern Guizhou, cold winds blow. In Daping Subdistrict, Wuchuan Autonomous County, Zunyi City, at the construction site of the 500 kV Wuchuan Power Transmission and Transformation Project, workers are pouring foundations while others are stringing lines. The construction site is in full swing, bustling with activity.

The project involves a total investment of 970 million yuan and has currently completed 80% of overall progress. All primary substation equipment has been installed. For the line works, foundation pouring has been completed for 272 tower foundations, and conductor stringing is in full swing. The project is expected to be completed and put into operation by the end of June this year.

After the project is put into operation, it will substantially strengthen the power grid structure in northeastern Zunyi, meet regional load growth demand, and be of strategic significance for building a green and low-carbon new power system and promoting optimized cross-provincial energy allocation, injecting a strong and reliable "power engine" into regional economic and social development.

Dozens of projects, including Guizhou Power Grid's 220 kV line outlet project from the 500 kV Tongren West Substation, the 500 kV Renyi-Dushan Second Circuit Project, and the 220 kV Duyun Shuanglong Power Transmission and Transformation Project, are going full speed ahead with construction to ensure progress according to schedule and commissioning on time. Pooling strength to promote development and setting sail with vigor for a new journey, Guizhou Power Grid Company will continue to use power grid investment to maintain a tireless, enterprising stance, push more key projects to land and take effect, and provide strong power support through the "acceleration" of power grid construction for Guizhou to focus on "vigorously developing industry, projects, investment promotion and market entities."
