In order to thoroughly implement the regional Party Committee's "1571" work deployment, in 2026 the region's transportation system will organize and carry out eight major improvement actions covering road network quality, safety, transport, governance capacity, travel services, beautiful and harmonious villages, industry support, and employment and income growth. It plans to start construction on 5,000 kilometers of rural roads, while simultaneously implementing 4,000 kilometers of maintenance projects, renovating 50 dangerous bridges, and carrying out 1,500 kilometers of safety life protection projects, continuously promoting the high-quality development of "Four-Good Rural Roads" and providing solid transportation guarantees for the comprehensive revitalization of rural areas.

　　In 2025, the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Department of Transportation focused on improving the rural and pastoral area transportation network featuring "external connectivity, internal smoothness, and industrial integration." Throughout the year, 710 rural road construction projects spanning 6,603 kilometers were started regionwide; 493 projects spanning 4,441 kilometers were completed, achieving 110.9% of the annual target and an increase of 10.9% over the same period of the previous year.

　　The level of highway safety protection has been significantly improved. As of the end of December 2025, in the area of dangerous bridge renovation, 190 bridges totaling 7,607 linear meters had been started regionwide, and 156 bridges totaling 5,867 linear meters had been completed. In terms of safety life protection projects, 277 projects spanning 639 kilometers had been started, and 276 projects spanning 638 kilometers had been completed. In terms of maintenance projects, 1,361 projects spanning 7,375 kilometers had been started, and 1,295 projects spanning 7,228 kilometers had been completed, achieving 132% of the annual target.

　　The "work-relief" program has benefited people's livelihoods. During project implementation, 188 projects regionwide adopted the work-relief approach, absorbing 2,369 laborers from along the routes, distributing 18.23 million yuan in labor remuneration, and conducting skills training for 1,953 person-times. This not only met project labor needs but also broadened channels for increasing the income of farmers and herdsmen, achieving the comprehensive benefits of "building one road, employing a group of people, and enriching an area."

　　At the same time, the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Department of Transportation has actively promoted the creation of "Four-Good Rural Roads" demonstration counties and the selection of "Beautiful Rural Roads." In May 2025, the rural road from Fengjiata to Laoniuwan in Qingshuihe County, Hohhot City, was recognized nationally as "The Road at My Doorstep — The Most Popular Road." To date, the region has successfully created 17 national demonstration banners and counties for "Four-Good Rural Roads" and 33 autonomous-region-level demonstration banners and counties for "Four-Good Rural Roads," and has created 2 nationally most beautiful rural roads and 2 most popular roads.
