Recently, the main structure of the Human Cell Lineage Major Scientific Research Facility Project (Phase I) was capped ahead of schedule, marking a key breakthrough for the life science innovation platform in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The project is constructed by China Construction Third Engineering Bureau. From the construction of the first pile foundation to the capping of the main structure, the project team took only 8 months to overcome multiple difficulties and successfully completed key milestones including the "620" pile foundation works, the "919" basement structure works, and the "1228" main structure capping.

       The project team faced the challenges of Guangzhou's rainy season and high temperatures and scorching heat, and successfully withstood the super typhoon "Ragasa"; in the face of the epidemic risks of dengue fever and chikungunya fever, they implemented full-process prevention and control measures and achieved zero infection among all personnel; in response to the difficulties of complex geology and hard, uneven rock strata during the pile foundation construction stage, they set up a special task force, deployed extra rotary drilling rigs for simultaneous operations, and invited experts to optimize the plan, successfully resolving the technical bottleneck.

      The project integrated the concept of "intelligent construction" throughout and applied advanced equipment independently developed by China Construction Third Engineering Bureau, including Guangdong Province's first top-climbing intelligent core-penetrating tower crane, intelligent construction elevators, and smoothing robots, combined with BIM digital modeling and intelligent monitoring technology to achieve refined control of the entire construction process. With solid capabilities, the project successfully passed the phased acceptance as a Guangdong Province and Guangzhou City safety standardization site and as a Guangdong Province and Guangzhou City quality structure Double-A site, accepted 1 utility model patent, and successfully established itself as a Guangdong Province new technology application demonstration project, a Guangzhou City intelligent construction pilot project, and a Guangzhou City quality project, among others.

      The capping of the main structure is a new starting point. The project team will uphold the spirit of striving for excellence, serve the national major science and technology infrastructure well, strictly observe the safety bottom line, strictly control quality, and strictly manage the construction schedule. Working hand in hand with all participating units, they will advance the subsequent construction tasks with high quality, ensure the project is completed and put into use as early as possible, and contribute to the development of the country's life science cause and the industrial upgrading of the Greater Bay Area.

       The Human Cell Lineage Major Scientific Research Facility Project is a core component of Guangzhou's "2+2+N" science and technology innovation platform system with a total construction area of 56,618 m². Once completed, it will become an important innovation carrier empowering the upgrading of the biopharmaceutical industry in the Greater Bay Area, focusing on frontier fields such as cell lineage analysis, disease mechanism research, and innovative drug development, building a high-level scientific research platform, gathering top talent, providing support for China's production of original achievements in life sciences, and being of great significance for improving the regional innovation ecosystem and enhancing the country's international competitiveness in related fields.
