On December 10, the SG18-5 section of Phase I of Hangzhou Metro Line 18, constructed by China Railway No. 4 Engineering Group, reached a key milestone: the excavation conditions for the main foundation pit (axes 7-21) of Jianghan Road Station successfully passed joint acceptance inspection. This marks the official entry of this complex, highly challenging underground five-story station into the substantive攻坚 phase of full-scale main foundation pit excavation, laying a solid foundation for subsequent shield reception and section breakthrough.

The civil construction SG18-5 section of Phase I of Hangzhou Metro Line 18 comprises 2 stations and 2 sections: Jianghan Road Station, Jianghui Road Station, the shield transfer shaft to Jianghan Road Station section, and the Jianghan Road Station to Jianghui Road Station section, including underground structure obstruction removal, traffic diversion, and other construction content.

Among them, Jianghan Road Station, as a key node project, has attracted much attention for its construction progress. Jianghan Road Station is designed as an underground five-story structure with a total length of 166.2 meters and a standard section width of 22.9 meters. The station foundation pit excavation depth reaches 37.88 meters, equivalent to digging a 13-story building deep underground, making it a rare ultra-deep foundation pit project. "Building a station at such a depth is like carving meticulously inside a soft, high-moisture 'thousand-layer cake,'" the project manager explained.

The construction of Jianghan Road Station can be described as a precision "underground surgery" in a complex urban core area. The station is located in the urban core, making this "deep underground dive" even more difficult. The project adopted a clever combination of semi-covered excavation and top-down construction. Simply put, it means covering part of the area with decking to ensure road traffic while excavating downward in layers and sections, and using part of the future station's own structure constructed in reverse in advance as "temporary support columns" during excavation. This wisdom of a "permanent-temporary combined support system" greatly enhances safety and efficiency in construction within a narrow site.
